A rather windy night, which looked like hard work. Alan Holmes did another stoming ride recording the fastest time of the evening..... but Alan Thompson has to be the star of the night, this wasn't just his first TT, but he insisted in doing it the hard way not only was he riding a standard road bike, nae tri bars and wearing a very un aerodynamic rucksack but he insisted in circling the roundabout at the start before going up the slip road, Just so he could build up some initial speed before hitting the dual carriageway I presume... I've been getting quit a good reception in the house in Barrhead, but the house is set a little higher up than the surrounding houses........... just wish the reception in the house was as good for my mobile phone. believe it or not, but I actually get a reasonable reception in Johnstone whilst in the car......

Campbell has asked me to put this on the bunch, he came off his bike yesterday on the way to work and has bruised his hip, He therefore won't be at the TT tonight........... he has asked that someone takes a note of the times and posts them onto the Bunch afterwards. Cheers George

Kenny, I had a fabulous day, you and all the other organisers did the club and Scotland very proud indeed. I hadn't realised that the sport of Bike Polo would have been so exiting. At first I was in awe of the skills of the French riders, but they were soon put in their place when it came to the big game, the true Skills of the Scottish and Irish teams shone out, Scotland being fortunate to have the "PELE" of the Polo world playing for them in the form of Russel. Well done Kenny, Martin and all the other organisers. Thanks for a Brilliant day.

If it wasn't them then it must have been from wearing one of Katrina's Old skin suits and shaving my legs for the first and last time. All the names were put on a separate sheet and randomly given numbers between 1 & 10, I then asked Katrina and Rita to give me a number between 1 & 10, Your number was the first to be picked giving you first on the line. It seemed like a fair way to do it, However if anyone else has any other preferred method they are free to use it when they time keep, as long as you let Stevie pick his own preferred position.

As another note of thankyou, I'd like to thank the newest member of the Wheelers for her vocal support at the start, and for her Dads help with holding and pushing the riders off. Alan King turned up with Sharon and baby Shonna, Alan was intending to ride but had trouble with his track pump, so gave a very helpful hand with the timekeeping, Sharon and Shonna joined us at the start with Shonna shouting encouragement from her pram with shouts of Dig in coming from under the covers. Thanks again Shonna, your cries were very much appreciated.

A good turnout for the first of our League 10’s with 10 riders participating in what was a very windy night. A severe head wind on the way to the Newarc roundabout and a tail wind back. We had a load of riders taking part in their first 10TT, I can assure you that the way out isn’t usually as severe. Well done to you all. A tremendous time from Steve Blom, and probably more amazing was Vicky’s time as she finished with a puncture, finally running on the rim. The League championship is a handicapped event, based on how close you get to your PB, for those who took part for the first time this is your PB and I’m sure that you will find this time tumbling down over the next few weeks making for a very close and interesting competition. The Glasgow Herald has asked for us to send them our confined calendar results, such is the popularity of the Johnstone Wheelers, so you could find your names being published. I was side swiped a couple of years ago, I went through the BCF lawyers and thought that they were brilliant..... It took about 6 months, but in the end I was paid in full and even was awarded a little personal injury money which I hadn't even claimed for. Take plenty of pictures of the bike showing the damage done, pictures of the helmet etc as you can also claim for all damaged equipment and clothing. At the last Braveheart Dinner, which I have to add was a wonderful evening and I would highly recommend it to everyone. We retired to the Bar after all the proceedings had finished for a bit of a nightcap, Katrina had won the Braveheart rider of the year and was proudly showing off her trophy. After a while Ian Dooley suggested that I put the Glass trophy in his room upstairs for safe keeping, but warning, “Don’t put anything in my Bed, I don’t want to get up there and find cornflakes all over my bed, you better not put anything in my Bed or there will be hell to pay†When I returned back to the Bar, He kept going on about his bed, “you can put what you want in Tam’s bed but leave mine aloneâ€. It worked out that Ian and Tam Gordon where sharing a room that evening. The room contained one double and a single bed and they had been arguing who should get which. Ian had claimed the double bed, but the argument was still going strong After a few more drinks, I went up to the room to get the trophy, again Ian was going on about this bed. When I arrived at the room door I thought that it was strange, there sitting outside propped to the wall, An Ironing board. We went home and to be honest I forgot all about it till the next morning when the text’s started arriving, It seems that Ian and Tam both left the bar, still arguing about who’s bed was who’s. At the room door a light hearted scuffle ensued as Tam pushed his way to the front and ran into the room claiming the double bed, YES! He exclaimed and Jumped three foot into the air and landed with an almighty Bang. The temptation had been too much for me, he landed smack bang on top of the ironing board, which I couldn’t resist putting under the quilt of the Double bed. The look on his face must have been a picture, I know that Ian certainly found it amusing as Tam lay there “Ya Basketsâ€. It seems that it’s the hardest thing Tams had in his bed in years. ………. I know that this hasn’t got anything to do with “Why I want to go the track†and If I be honest I probably won’t be able to go anyway, especially if Tam catches up with me now that the truth is out. However If you have found the story the funniest, I’d like to nominate Harry Lambie for the place, I know that he’s a great Chris Hoy fan, but unfortunately doesn’t have access to a PC, or I’m sure that one of his own story’s which I know are a lot better, would have been recalled.
