  1. I think the route choice is right,,,, shall be there for a 7pm start near Uplawmoor Only had one 25 this year so should be interesting.
  2. Hey I told KS I would not but since it is an admirable cause Track Bike - £210 Saltire Bag - £45 Awra best
  3. Just to confirm that I received a Bunch of licenses today (Saturday) and so I will be down at the clubrooms tomorrow to dispense to you patient people. There are obvious ones (Oban and St Andrews) that require posting but I shall take the rest. Any remaining to be picked up after Tuesday night will be posted. Again apologies for the delay. And yes Mr Muddy hooligan yours is one of the many and is a reserve for Jim Daly
  4. A quick update on the situation re-licenses from BC. We paid the affiliation fee to Scottish Cycling in early February, SC have now completed the documentation and payments to BC and I have confirmed with BC today that the licenses for all club members who have joined BC are on their way to me. I am advised that they have been sent out this week. If I receive any I will bring them down to the TT on Saturday and will be at the clubrooms at 9.15 Sunday. Notwithstanding that I will send out the licenses to your home address asap on my receipt - assuming you are a paid up member of the club for 2009 Apologies for the delays and hope no-one was too inconvenienced. And thank you for your patience.

    Sunday 15th

Time trial - I don't like the sound of that. Far too hard work. If any beginner fancies a run along the track to Glengarnock and back then join me - thats what I'm doing if weather permits. Racing is for fit folks
  6. Just to confirm the note from Kenny. Since there may be a few relative newcomers was thinking of heading along the track to Glengarnock and back - about 20 odd miles I'd estimate. No cafe stops Leaving at 9.15am from the clubrooms. Hope to see a few from last Sunday who performed well even in the face of a faster pace back..
  7. Hi David, Hope you are doing well and like the other guys, be good to see you soon. However, the cafe at Castle Semple is still there. Im too tired to get to the Cross after the exertions of the track from the clubrooms to Lochwinnoch. Bad news about the gym tho Awra best
  8. The 9:30 bunch should be suitable for newcomers ( so Mr Manson told me ) Mr Manson may need a recovery ride so the new toy will be at less than 1000 Watts and HR no higher than 215. Plan for 9.30 is to go along track from clubrooms to Kilmacolm - if everyone feels ok and wee extra bit along to Port Glasgow and return. No more than 18 miles, I reckon bout 13-14 miles an hour and no hills. Should be suitable for any interested returnee. Hey Martin is there a 10.00 bunch this week
  9. Ian S, Can I take you up on your offer of transport, leaving clubrooms at 9am. Will leave my car there as no point in taking so many vehicles. Thanks Ian M
  10. I'm happy to lead the beginners, returnees and time triallists run along the cycle track. Clubrooms - Kilmacolm - Port Glasgow and back Would plan to leave at 9am
  11. I received the following mail message as Club secretary. Attached was an information sheet. If anyone would like the info sheet and contact for the person doing the experiments can you mail me and I will pass on the details to you. I am a postgraduate student working in the Institute of Diet, Exercise and Lifestyle at the University of Glasgow. We are currently looking to recruit 10-20 experienced male endurance cyclists for a study starting early in the New Year investigating the interaction of nutritional supplements and training and thought this study may be of interest to some of your club members. Specifically we are interested in whether supplementation with Green Tea Extract during training can enhance the adaptation to training. The basic rationale is that during single bouts of exercise Green Tea Extract has been shown to increase the use of fat as fuel and this is also one of the desired outcomes from aerobic endurance training. I have attached an information sheet to give some more detail about what the study entails. Essentially, as well as tests of performance and physiological function before and after training, the subjects would need to complete two periods of 4 weeks of training while supplementing with either Green Tea Extract or a placebo, this is known as a cross-over experimental design. The subjects do not all need to do the same training programme as each other, we would discuss the appropriate training programme with each subject and provide them with a turbo-trainer and/or power output measurement device (e.g. powertap hub) in order to monitor their training. We could also offer the use of our lab and computrainer setups a couple of nights a week during the training periods. In addition we would be happy to offer some exercise physiology support to your club/individual members who participate as a thank you for taking part. Would it be possible either to organise a time to come and speak to your club members or could you to circulate this information and the attached information sheet to your members?

  15. Just a quick note to thank the club members who gave up their time to assist with the TT . I think this was the only 25 at this course this year and without your help this wouldn't have taken place so thanks again to, George Hamilton - Startsheet Vicky Begg - Catering + Time Recorder Kenny Steele - Pusher Off Davie Raymond - Best seat in the house, Time Recorder Kenny McDonald James McDonald - Commissaire Mike Ferguson, Colin Howard, Frank Kennedy, Jim Daly - Few harum scarum moments as marshalls. I'm sure the 80 riders, including Ramsay Muirhead and Jim Dunlop, who enjoyed a good day appreciated the effort as well. The events calendar for 2009 is to be submitted at next Monday (8th) WOSCA meeting so if anyone fancies having a go at organising an event give me or Kenny Mac a call. I will post the full results tomorrow.

  17. Thanks Davie. Just hoping for no roadworks and a good weekend for weather. Looks like a pretty good quality field of between 60-70. One of the few 25's held at Eggy Park this year right enough Cheers again and if you are at a loose end, there is always things to do
  18. Thanks for the offer of help guys, greatly appreciated. Other than Vicky can you please be at the hall in Eglinton between 8-815 on the day. Vicky if you could be there about 8.45 - 9. A few more volunteers would be good as we are at the minimum we need Please let me know if you can help out.
  19. Thanks Jim and Frank. Still looking for a few more volunteers. Come on folks, need your help.
  20. The Sam Dooley 25 mile time trial is taking place on Sunday 31 August at Eglinton Park. Volunteers are needed to safely marshall the course, help with time recording and starting. Kenny Mac are you ok to commisaire the event? Helpers would be needed from 8-1130 on the day. If available can you post here or E-mail me. Looking for about 8 people. Thanks
  21. The return of the League 10 series to its former start seemed to bring with it reasonably good weather conditions with, what I am told, a slight push to the Newark turn and a slightly harder return leg. Due to this there were a couple of PB's posted. Results Ramsay Muirhead, 23.07 PB Frank Kennedy, 23.10 PB Mike Ferguson, 24.48 Iain Cowden, 25.06 Martin Mulholland, 25.10 PB - so he claims Greg Balden, 28.15 Ian Manson - Timekeeper No adverse feedback on return to WestFerry start so same again next week and hope to see more entrants Well done all on the rides
  22. A small majority preferred the start to revert to the WestFerry railway bridge so let's do that and assess after the event. Hope for a good turnout so a posting of intent would be appreciated. Any volunteers to timekeep?
  23. Next week the conined events calendar notes the continuation of the League 10 series. For those who rode or spectated what are the views on the use of the start at the Newark roundabout end versus the traditional start at the Westferry railway bridge. It was originally decided to move the start on safety grounds - feedback appreciated
  24. Once again Davie excellent reading. A good laugh. I met Mr Blom who told me he once owned a Colnago. Aw haud on, that's the real one
  25. Fortunately I was held up at work so couldn't get there in time. On what was as windy a night as I can remember from a TT'ing point of view may I congratulate all who took part with a special mention to George for what in the conditions was a quite brilliant time. Well done mate a very worthy champion Good luck also to Kerry and Vicky
