Thirty Milers - Sunday 9th August

As Sandra said, six of us set out from the club rooms this morning. Carol, Sandra, Roy (on his new bike), Jets Lusia and Lewis, as well as myself

A nice roll down the track to Kilmacolm (although Carol assured us we were going up), before slipping off at the Pullman and making our way over the road to Lochwinnoch

The track had certainly sheltered us from the wind which was in full force as we climbed up Phil's Folly and we had a regroup at the top. We were joined briefly by five from the Inverclyde who were making their intentions clear with deep sections on display

Roy decided to head for home at the bottom of the John's Hill and the five remaining headed on the road to Kilbirnie before cutting off at The Kerse. Over the railway and the wee climb past the gravey into Beith with Carol displaying her local knowledge by taking us up every climb she could find in the town to Lewis' disgust and very soon we were through Gateside with markers being put down for future cafe stops at the Inn.

Out the village and over the drag we were confronted by the welcome sight of Ramsay heading in the opposite direction as his knee rehabilitation continues. A turn to the left and we were headed for Greenacres with young Lewis starting to feel the distance but promises of a cafe stop kept him going beyond the reservoir and a left down to the Newton of Belltrees and the

Lochwinnoch Rd End

A few minutes later and we were at the cafe at Castle Semple for a welcome natter. Plenty of VC Glasgow South around along with the super vets from the Ivy, Glasgow Wheelers and the like

The unscheduled coffees, hot chocolates and cake were enjoyed, and Lewis found his legs again to drive us on the final straight towards Johnstone

A good morning on the bike. Thanks for the company

Sadly won't make it next week as will be in Golspie with the racing Jets but the planned route is published

Be out again soon for more

Kenny
