2023 Subscriptions GrahamF Posted May 18, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 18, 2013 I'm keen to give this a go, very much as an endurance event, would anyone like to come along for the ride? It starts right on our doorstep so seems a shame to give it a miss. Entry closes on Wedsnesday so it's decision time now...... Graham. 2023 Subscriptions GrahamF Posted June 2, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 Well this turned out to be a great ride. About 30 people, including one lady, turned up at the start at about the highest part of Bridge of Weir in wonderful morning sunshine for the run down to the ferry. The climb to get to the start was indicative of the first half of the ride, as up to the 100 km mark there was very little flat road and 11 classified climbs, whereas the second half only had 4! Apart from a shower between Tighnabruaich and Otter Ferry we had great weather with the accompanying views and swathes of Bluebells seemed to be everywhere. There was an assorted bunch of folks on the ride, with several from outside the Glasgow area, but they were a friendly bunch with lots of mutual moral support. The organisation was excellent, with an accurate route sheet and a warm (and warming!) welcome at both the start and the end of the trip. Overall I clocked 143m, 10,800 ft of ascent, and about 12 hours all in. Overall a great day out! Graham.
