Is it that time of year again!!!.

Route is :

Miller st,, george town road, Bishoptoon, westferry, up the Clune, the Wall, back road to Lw, Bridesmill Road, Howwood, Sprint for the 30, and back to base camp for soup an cakes!!

It was my first ever club run as a newbie to cycling in 2009 and how I suffered - 40 miles of pain - a doddle the noo!

Ross,

3 bunches doing the same route - outlined by Paul C above. 30 milers set off at 09.00, intermediates at 09.15 and the main bunch at 09.30. The general idea is to close down the group(s) in front with everyone returning to the clubrooms around the same time for soup and tea etc.

The route changes each week, getting progressively longer. #1 as outlined, #2 - down Moscow way, #3 - Sinclair Street and #4 - Largs and the Haylie Brae, no coffee stops. I'll stand corrected if I've got this wrong but I believe this is how you got fit in yesteryear after a winter layoff. However as the a good number of us have continued to do largish miles over the winter, esp the main bunch its more of a tradition now.

Clear as mud no doubt

Mark,

I understood the reliability tests to be exactly that, a chance to test any changes to your machine made over the winter month's. Its a throwback to the days when a clubman had just one bike. (What a nightmare!)

I think it was a chance to fine tune any new components or adjustment's to contact points for the season ahead.

Your right though, its more of a gauge of fitness nowadays. Nevertheless, a good tradition that I hope endures.
