  1. I was going to post this up today, but Darryl got in first. There were roadworks on the Dalry road past West Kilbride yesterday, so this could be an alternative. Anyone fancy a jaunt into darkest Ayrshire this Sunday for the joy of Transmitter Hill? The route is Stewarton, Fenwick, Moscow, Galston and return. Cafe stop, probably Stewarton on the return leg. 9:30 at the clubrooms.

  3. I’ll check the road through the village this afternoon, but I expect it will be open. Following the event there will be a short social run to Bridge of Weir, where tea, coffee and scones will be available for purchase.
  4. There are roadworks in Houston village, due to be cleared on Friday 27th, so keep an eye on the bunch to confirm this is actually the case. On the upside, it means some new, smooth tarmac through the village.
  5. What a beautiful clear blue sky.
  6. Ok, so three teams, at least 2 of which were put together on line took part on another balmy summer’s evening, with a light headwind out. Scott and Stefan 18:58 Alan and Gerard 17:28 Both paid James and Sam 15:52 Jets Special thanks to Scott for partnering Stefan on his first run out on a TT, never mind a team TT. And to Iain Couttie for timekeeping on the night after a late puncture forced his withdrawal. I have transferred £6 to the club account.
  7. A couple of members intend to ride this as a practice run ahead of the Georgetown Cup. Happy to support this, so the event will go ahead, even if there are less than three pairs riding.
  8. I believe that a number of Jets apart from Sam have entered. Given how well they’re going in the Georgetown league, I think they’ll do a job.
  9. Great run out today. Thanks to Dave for calling it, and, yes the return to Bowfield did get a bit lively. By the time we decided to chase Ali, he was gone.
  10. Are there any takers for this at all?
  11. The hilly TT championship is normally run over three events, with points awarded for 1st , 2nd and 3rd in each race. This year has been different, so this years Hilly TT championship will be decided on the basis of 1 event, held on 28th August, decided on first past the post. 09:45 meet in Langbank for 10:00 off, post up if you’re coming along. As usual, we need a volunteer to timekeep on the day.
  12. I've been pondering that very issue for some months (years), and there are no simple, easy solutions. If there were, it would have been done. However, as always, if you have some positive ideas, the committee will be delighted to consider them.
  13. This is the first of two practice runs ahead of the 2up championship on 7th September. It will be 6.45 meet for 7pm off, on the Georgetown. We need at least 3 pairs to make this worthwhile, plus the usual timekeeper. There are 2 trophies up for grabs on the 7th, the David Raymond Trophy, which is a handicapped event, and a fastest run award. Post up if you want to race, and if you have a partner, or if you need a partner. I intend to ride, but I need a partner as the highly successful Team Still Game is unlikely to reform this year.
  14. £9.00 has been transferred to the club account, with Dom and Dave both owed £2 as I had no change. Huge congratulations to Sam on winning the Frank Lauder 10 mile TT championship. I think he may be the first Jet to do so, but if someone out there knows differently, I am happy to stand corrected.
  15. That is disappointing, but I understand the risks around the roadworks, and I think that with the uncertainty around that it’s a good call. Well done for getting that far along with it.
  16. OK, there's good news and bad new on the Westferry. The bad news is that there is a lane closure on the section approaching the Langbank roundabout, westbound. The good news is that it's supposed to be clear by 15:30 this afternoon. https://trafficscotland.org/map/index.aspx?type=3 So. lets assume that the event will be going ahead, and I will check it out tonight on my way to the meet. If the cones are still in place then, the event will be cancelled for this year. It's a long way from ideal, but is probably the best we can do in the circumstances.
  17. Hope everything goes ok with you all. I’ll try and get a run through this afternoon.
  18. I’ll ride with no expectations.
  19. This event is open on Cycling Time Trials website. We’ve done well in the in the past two years of the event taking place thanks to the efforts of a few bold riders ( you know who you are!) . Time to get another podium finish. Get your entries in. I’ve entered in the Flying Scot category, so my time is unlikely to count towards a team finish, not that it would have counted anyway assuming enough of the fast boys sign up.
  20. So only 3 riders on a better than expected evening. Sunny, with a westerly breeze pushing the riders home. David Ferguson 25:50, pb, paid Scott McIntosh 24:32, paid Gerard Deeley 24:02, paid x3 Congrats to David on the pb. I have transferred £15 to the club account.
  21. The closer this event gets, the more I’m thinking that riding it is a really bad idea. Happy to help out with whatever needs done, and I can bring a pop up gazebo if it’s needed.
  22. Subject to the A8 roadworks remaining inactive, the next installment of the league of 10 will take place on 3rd August. &:00 meet for 7:15 off, rear lights are mandatory. I will timekeep, but I need at least three riders for the event to take place. This is your penultimate opportunity to get a practice run in ahead of the club 10 mile championship on 17th August. Finally, can anyone who is in the area check on the Westferry during Tuesday morning to confirm that the roadworks are still inactive and both lanes are open in both directions. Ta.
  23. The much postponed Frank Lauder 10 (the club 10 mile TT championship event) will take place on 17th August provided that the roadworks on the A8 remain inactive. The 2 preceding Tuesdays, 3rd August and 10th August will also be on the Westferry for league of 10 events subject to the same caveat. The 2up TTs will be postponed until 24th August with the David Raymond trophy (2 up TT Championship) being competed for on 7th September.
  24. A cool-ish evening, with a light cross headwind going out, and three riders taking part. David Cowan 21:28 paid Paul Coffey 18:47 PB paid Gerard Deeley. 18:03 Well done to Paul on another PB, to Gerard for fastest on the night, and to Dave for stepping in at the 11th hour to enable the event to take place. I have transferred £6 to the club account
