carol cowan replied to carol cowan's topic in Sunday Run - Thirty Milers
Did not check that the 2ups are on this day. Can we meet at the TT start at 9.15 am (Opposite Army building on Georgetown Road at Inchinnan Estate end) and support/assist , even take part in the event, and then go for a shorter run thereafter. Dave -
How about a tour of local villages. Clubrooms 9am...Moss Rd to Erskine, Bishopton, Ingliston, Gleddoch, Clune Brae to Auchenbothie Road back to Kilmacolm. Kilallan Road to Houston, to Bridge of Weir centre, Torr Road to Phils Folly and over to Lochwinnoch. A bit lumpy but mostly quiet roads with options to change route. Please post up if coming out. Dave

Good run today. Group of 8 left Miller St including newbie Karen. Made it Torranyard in dry conditions and then caught in rain with most of group without rain jackets as forecast was for sun. .However just got to Rendezvous cafe before heavy shower. Returned via Stewarton and Lugton where group got abit splintered. Anthony turned off at duck pond towards Greenacres and I hope Bill and Boyd caught up with him there. Rest carried on to Beith and Lochwinnoch , Kilbarchan where Karen left and rest onto Amaretto for another coffee. Thanks to all for the company and patter. Dave

Hi all, suggest this route again for Sunday and hopefully less wind: Leave clubrooms 9am to Bowfield hill, Gateside, Barmill, Auchentiber, Torranyard and on to Kilmaurs for coffee stop at Rendezvous Cafe. Return via Stewarton, Dunlop. Nice steady pace and regroup at top of hills. No one is left behind. Approx 40miles Please post up if coming out.

carol cowan replied to carol cowan's topic in Sunday Run - Thirty Milers
Guys. a bit too windy for us and will pass this week. The main bunch look as though they are still going out on a similar route and you could tag along for a bit and then pull off . Dave -

Guys,, if the forecast gales come tomorrow morning, in the interests of safety and self preservation, it may be sensible to cancel. Will check first thing and post up. Dave. -

Thanks to Graham for organising a great day out and to the rest of the guys and gals for the company. A full day in the end up, but still most enjoyable. The beers and chips at the end were well earned.

24th July Whitelees Windfarm Eaglesham Moor
carol cowan replied to carol cowan's topic in Sunday Run - Thirty Milers
A good bunch of nine set out from Miller St including Jaggyalan on his first group run. Rain stayed off until about 2miles before the windfarm visitor centre , but we made it relatively dry. Cafe was chocker with Glasgow Green Cycle Club, and we could hardly get a seat together. Refreshed we headed towards Eaglesham and the Mearns where the rain got heavier. Made it back to Paisley via Barrhead dams with no mishaps and home for just after 1pm. Well done to everyone on a wet but enjoyable day and thanks to Boyd for the directions and the rest for the company in the best cycle club in Scotland !!. Going to Arran next Sunday so if anyone else wants to post a run, please feel free to do so. Dave -

Not been to the windfarm this year for a coffee stop. Route would be Howwood, Lugton,Dunlop. Stewarton, Fenwick and beside A77 to Whitelees. Return via Newton Mearns and Barrhead. A steady uphill run all the way out, but good descent back. Bit more than thirty miles this week. Leave Clubrooms Miller Street 9am Please post up if coming. Dave -
Thanks Alan, tough going up the Dougliehill Road into the rain and headwind, but lovely smooth tarmac ! Cut the posted route short as stopped for a coffee in Tapa in Kilmacolm to dry out. Surely it will be dry next week. Dave
-
Can try this run again from last week, but forecast not great for morning. If the weather is dry, plan to do a hilly and flat route. Clubrooms 9am along track to Port Glasgow, taking high fork to reach Dougliehill legbuster climb to Auchenfoyler Road, then towards Kilmacolm. Phils Folly to Lochwinnoch and then back on the track to Kilbirnie. return to Lochwinnoch via Dibble Road for cafe stop. Options from there. Who's coming out. Dave

Guys, due to the wet forecast for this morning and rest of day , think we will give it a miss today and hope for better next week. Dave
