  11. This month has been designated Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The most common cancer among men. 10,000 men die in the UK each year from Prostate Cancer. Many men remain unaware about the Prostate Gland, its function and indeed Prostate Cancer. Please have a look at the website below and become aware. http://www.prostate-cancer.org.uk Thanks John

  14. Hi folks I am all for effective communication however is a single point of info not the best method. The Forum works. Danger that some info is available on the forum and some on Facebook. I for one don't have a facebook account. Too many outlets can create communication problems. The Forum also provides a level of security in that controls are exercised on who can post info. Also control over content. Communication is the key however should we not retain what we have and what we know works. Just my thoughts John
  15. Greig If you start at St Mirren Park may I suggest Ibrox next rather than last. Rangers are at home with a 3pm Kick off. The game is a sell out and traffic will be building early. Hospitallity opens at 1200. From 1200hrs onwards getting near the Stadium might be a problem. Enjoy the run some of us have to work. John
  16. Alan Cycle lanes depend of available carriageway width, sight lines, traffic flow rates etc. It is a complicated business. Much of that route is suitable for a lane especially if the roads dept claimed back some carriageway from the grass verges. It would be a good idea to ask the council for a review of the route with a view to install a designated lane. That way they will have to make a decision and be accountable for that decision. John
  17. You may have noticed that the site clearing had started at the site of the old factory at Bishopton. The new construction entry point on the Georgetown Road is the route for the lorries. Over the next few months daily vehicle movements could reach hundreds. This brings safety concerns especially for cyclists. The lorries are regulated to a max 40mph on that class of road but with payments being made per load well speed limits could go out the window. In addition mud on the road may become a problem. Already I have experienced 8 wheel tippers overtaking on the double white line sections. As cyclists we dont have to accept this. I have alrteady contacted the site controllers and asked that all drivers be reminded that the Georgetown road is well used by cyclists and that cyclists as legitimate road users should be shown all respect. If this fails the Scottish Traffic Area of VOSA (Traffic Commisioners) can be contacted. Anyone having a bad experience with lorries from this site please post time date and location along with a brief description of driver behaviour. This will be a long term operation and bad driver behaviour could spoil the use of this road into next year. Early action if necessary could improve safety for all road users. I am willing to present a case to the Traffic Area if that is required and the members deem that appropriate. John
  18. Hi all Please lets learn from this. Urban routes that are shared with buses is not good. Need to practice good discipline as a bunch. Need to up the pace. Not a great run but lets move on and use the numerous routes available in Renfrewshire and Ayrshire. Let us remember safety for ourselves and others but above all enjoy the bike and have a laugh. So lets go for a great run next time. We have a lot to offer Thanks for the company John
