  1. Call me a fairweather cyclist but I’m going to bail out on today. Enjoy!
  2. Alan T has made an excellent suggestion for a club run. Lumpy 50 miles, finishing in Houston at the beer festival. “Can I suggest some local miles, Station Road, OGR, down Heggies, the Clune, the wall, phils folly, Elliston Castle, Dalek Hill, and then back to Houston. Less than 50 miles, but lots and lots of up.” 9 am at the club rooms
  3. Well done team. Great to read all about it. Sounds like an epic ride.
  4. Received this email from Mark Beaumont during the week. I am not planning on doing it this year, but if anyone is keen, let me know and I can send you the link to register. Not sure when they will be releasing the registration link but expect it will be in the coming days/weeks. You are receiving this because either you took part in the inaugural ATW1D in 2018 or you expressed interest and were on the long waiting list. You are now in the leading group for places in the 2019 event, and places are strictly on a first come, first served basis. So, feel free to sign up and share with friends who you believe have 240 miles in their legs and the ability to raise £1000 for the STV Children’s Appeal! Last year we raised over £90,000 and this year we are aiming to smash £100,000. Together, we will ride 18,000 miles in a day - the equivalent of circumnavigating the world! We’ll follow the stunning coast-to-coast route across Scotland, from an airbase near Campbelltown, through the Loch Lomond National Park to Duthie Park in Aberdeen. This is not a race – it’s an epic feat of endurance. Starting around 4am on the West Coast, we will complete 4 x 4 hour cycles with half hour breaks in between. Along the way you are likely to work your way through 8000kcal and downing around 8 litres of fluid.… in the manner of the Around the World in 80 Days. The ride will be fully supported. This glorious ride is in aid of the STV Charity Appeal and we are asking cyclists to fundraise £1000 each. Places are limited to 80 so if the fundraising tally is as daunting as the mileage, please think twice and leave the space for those who are confident on smashing it! With the STV cameras rolling, you will not only have the pressure of undertaking Scotland’s toughest endurance cycle but also have your chance for a little bit of fame along the way. If you are interested, we will be sending out a link to register shortly so keep an eye out for this email coming through. The registration fee will be £75. I hope you will consider joining me again, or for the first time, on this great coast-to-coast ride and making a big difference to children across Scotland. All the best Mark Beaumont
  5. Thanks Martin. Really appreciate it. See you Wednesday.
  6. Ditto to all of the above. Thank you to all for the great company and ride. Martin....great picture. Wish I had looked that fresh faced at the transmitter!
  7. Thanks Charlie. Fingers crossed you will be back fighting fit soon.
  8. Fantastic. Thank you so much Alan.
  9. Morning all. First of the Women’s rides this Wednesday. Looking for two or three experience bunched riders to talk us through the do’s and donts. Any takers? Plan is to meet at the club room at 6:45 and was thinking a 10-15 minute brief and walk through. Think of it as a wee short cafe stop on an evening ride! I’ll even make the coffee and bring the biscuits.
  10. Made it to the end of the Georgetown and lost it! Fastest 3 miles I’ve ever done! Is that a record for the quickest person to be dropped
  11. Galston Transmitter route this Sunday. Meet at club rooms at 9am. Bowfield, Stewarton, Galston, transmitter loop and back. 55-60 miles.
  12. I am going to come along and try to hold on until the end of the Georgetown! If I was coming from Crosslee/Houston, is it the bus stop on the left just passed the roundabout on the Georgetown road?
  13. I would definitely be interested in a velodrome session. Looks great but I am away that weekend too!
  14. No worries. I will be at the club rooms at 9am for an intermediate group ride. Can decide route in the morning.
  15. Thanks for the offer Chung. Fiona, gutted you can’t make it. What are everyone’s thoughts about the options for tomorrow? You know me and directions.....I like a plan so I can plug it in the garmin!
  16. Just realised that the faster/longer bunch are doing a similar route! Just a suggestion and happy with any route. Looks like it’s going to be a nice day
  17. I’ll be there. Everyone happy to meet at 9am? Any thoughts on a route? One option could be over the bridge to Milngavie, crow road, killearn, strathblane and back? Probably more like 65 - 70 miles though.
  18. Great run yesterday. Seamless navigation Thanks for the company guys.
  19. Good point Jann. Thank you. Alternative could be Beith, Barmill, Stewarton, Fenwick, Moscow, Eaglesham and back via Barrhead and Uplawmoor. About 60 miles
  20. Just wondered if anyone is up for getting the intermediate group up and running again? Was thinking meet at club rooms at 9am and head to Dalry. Over Fairlie Moor Road along to Largs and back over Brisbane Glen. Kilmacolm, Lochwinnoch, club rooms. Think it’s about 55 miles. Any takers?
