  1. Well done to Al and Carol and everyone else! Clear winners on a night of variable winds and showers. Thanks to Jann and Ramsay for timekeeping/"hauding up" and to Mike for retrieving my escaping rear light before the start! Iain
  2. No luck Charlie - all the best for a speedy recovery - glad everyone else is more or less Ok. Iain & Mary
  3. Thanks again to Dennis and Morag for a fine day out in the borders countryside and superb hospitality as always! I say a fine day out and it was.. a fine winter run! Cold and wet for most of the way with significant headwinds on the return leg. Attention to detail is all... Dennis having the foresight to reserve lunch tables in a cafe with a multi burner stove - much appreciated and necessary for drying oot! Good sized bunch with fine representation from JWCC past & present. Iain
  4. Many thanks to Mark for timekeeping and Ian McGinty for "shovin' aff"! Well done to Al and others. Sun two weeks in a row - couldn't last! Nice bike Carol BTW! Iain
  5. Hi Dennis - thanks again for this. I'm planning to be along - looking forward to it! Iain
  6. Thanks to Al for timekeeping and Kenny S for "haudin' up"! Well done to all the PBers - nice to see the sun! Iain
  7. 8.25 this morning - slim/freshfaced wheeler tootling along Haggs Road on Glasgow's sunny soo'side - black bike - Hugh perhaps? Passed first heading west into the wind, then returned minutes later with the benefit of a tailwind (sound judge)! Iain
  8. Hi Paul Just picking up on this as the date was in my diary! I am happy to marshall and let others ride - not a first aider. Cu you @9.30. Iain

    Millport RR?

Seems it is Sunday 23 June this year - hosted jointly by Glasgow RC/Glasgow Couriers under TLI auspices. It's on the Couriers website . Iain
  10. Andrew, Bill, Mary and I went for a short run this morning in surprisingly fine conditions. Linwood, Georgetown, Ingilston onto the Langbank/Houston Road, back past Formakin, up West Glen Rd to Kilmacolm and back via Quarriers/BOW. We cut the run a bit short for a variety of reasons; I punctured twice (Michelin Lithion Tyres new in January - hopeless - not the tyre it was previously at all !) Andrew's freehub developed a less than re-assuring noise and we could see the wet weather closing in! Still, 53 miles for us, so 30+ from the clubrooms - we really only got wet from Paisley on the way back! Thanks to all for the company again. Iain
  11. Change of plan for me this week-end due to not getting a start (full field) in the Corrieri Classic 10 mile TT (entirely my own fault for not making my mind up till close to the deadline)! Good luck to Mike Ferguson the only JWCC starter. So, I will be at Miller St for 9.30am looking for more of the same - 50-60 steady miles. As ever company very welcome. Thanks Iain
  12. Brian - not everyone sees themselves as a competitive cyclist - even those who do don't want to compete in every event. If you feel like a competive outing the Restricted Gear event may well suit - in which case have a go! If not, I'd you and others should feel free simply to go a run and enjoy it. If that's the case you might even want to swing by the confined event and offer encouragement! Enjoy your cycling whatever - one size doesn' fit all! Iain
  13. Another fine run out in great company - even if the weather refused to play along, making it cold and at times quite wet in the freshening wind! Seven of us left Miller St; Mary, Andrew, Bill, Chung, Colin, Ian McG and me - all completed the run - 71 miles for us, so just under 50 to/from the clubrooms. We went out the track to Glengarnock, up thru' Highfield on Route 7 (passing Davie B emerging from the Barrmill Circuit), from there across to the White Road, right towards Kilwinning before cutting off left, crossing the main Kilwinning road over to Torranyard via Benslie, then Cunninghamehead, Kilmaurs, Fenwick, the Clunch Road (after which Colin had a puncture) then down the good descent to Stewarton. Much needed farm cafe stop thereafter to warm up & re-fuel, then back to Jonstone via Greenacres/Bowfield. Thanks to everyone for turning out today and over the past 10 weeks or so. It has been fun and has given us some much needed good base/early season road miles. I hope to be time trialling fairly regularly from next week, so my availability for a week-end run will be a bit sporadic. Chung has kindly offered to post in future weeks, initially I think for a Saturday run, and see how thing go from there. I will join in whenever I can, So, thanks again folks - enjoy your cycling! Iain
  14. Excellent Richie! Fine Chung - say 8.50am again? Looks like a strong tailwind on the way over. Open to suggestions route wise in the morning. I'd thought perhaps out Glengarnock/Highfield way towards Kilwinning, then maybe round Cunninghamehead, Kilmaurs, Stewarton (optional farm cafe stop) then back via Greenacres or Uplawmoor & Peesweep. See what folk think in the morning . Iain
  15. The accumulation of marginal gains indeed! Iain
  16. Looks like being a cold and very windy morning, but I am up for some more steady miles as in previous weeks, perhaps 30-40 from the clubrooms. That way anyone who feels like giving the Restricted Gear TT a go on Sunday should feeel Ok. Anyway, 9.30 as usual at Miller St - company very welcome. Thanks Iain
  17. Another good wee run this morning. Six set off from Miller St. - Chung, Colin H, Greg, Iain Couttie, Kenny C and me. After a brief conflab on route, we went up Bowfield, across to Lugton, Dunlop (where Iain turned for home due to time constraints), on to Stewarton, Rowallan Castle, Fenwick, back up the A77 towards Newton Mearns, turning left onto the White Loch Road (just short of Logan's Well), over the several short sharp climbs and over to the Newton Mearns Stewarton Road. From there it was back towards Newton Mearns, down a good descent, before turning left again and over to Neilston. From there we came back via Barrhead and Paisley to the track at the RAH, where Chung and I headed back to Glasgow whilst the others returned to the clubrooms. I had about 59 miles to/from home so it must have been just about 40 from Miller St. Bit wet round Dunlop/Stewarton which was not advertised, but it dried out nicely. Hopefuly not too much effort before the Don Smith to-morrow. Thanks to all for company - great to see Colin out again, with enough time to complete the run this time. Iain
  18. No worries Chung - whatever suits! If you can't make it to-morrow, hope to see you on Sunday. I'll be riding over to-morrow if it suits to meet up. Greg - excellent! It'll be nice to ride out together again - it's been a while - too long! Cu in the morn. Iain
  19. Understandably numbers will be fewer this week, but at least two of us will be at Miller St at 9.30am if there are any late deciders/additions. Iain
  20. Consensus from last week was that we plan on a shorter run this Saturday, to accommodate folk also planning to ride the Don Smith on Sunday. So, 30-40 or so miles from Miller St at 9.30am - we can pick a route to accomodate anyone wanting to add on additional miles. As always, company and any route suggestions welcome. Thanks Iain
  21. Sorry Jann... I think that link if for a different course - one used for the Chocolate series and APRs previously. The start of the restricted is further east on the B777 towards the Gleniffer Rd turnoff. No doubt someone who can (beyond me) will post another link to the course. Iain
  22. Yes, another great day out on the bike! A fine bunch of most of the usual suspects, plus the welcome addition of Colin Howard for a bit. It really was very cold to begin with (which kept the pace brisk), but when the sun came out it was simply glorious! Chung felt the call of the north, so there we went - nice for me to see that wee loop round Coulport/Roseneath for the first time - the views to the snow capped Arrochar Alps on the way back were outstanding. So too were the flash new steeds, from Messrs Johnston & McGinty - very nice indeed. My suggestion that they rode at the front all day to make the rest of us look good met with limited support - at least from them! I was just over 101 miles by the time I was home, Richard and Chung wouldn't be far off that either. Thanks again to everyone again for turning out and Chung/Richard/Kenny & Ian for the route/cafe finding. The consensus for next week seemed to be that we go again for Saturday, but aim for a considerably shorter run, allowing those who can to ride their distance of choice at the Don Smith on Sunday. I'll post again midweek. Iain
  23. Great stuff folks - looking forward to it! Looks like there will be 8 of us anyway, so a decent wee bunch! Thanks Chung, I heard from Richard earlier, but had by then agreed to meet Ian and Kenny C at the Red Smiddy at 8.50am. I think I'll need therefore need to be a bit earlier than usual at Bella, which probably won't suit. So, I will see you & Richard at Miller Street and that way everyone has company on the way over. I am quite open on route and going north of the river, but suggest we maybe leave it till the morning, see what conditions are like and what others fancy? Iain
  24. Weather looks set fair - crisp and clear, so more of the same for me - 9.30am Miller St. 50-60 steady miles, cafe stop optional, decide route on the morning given conditions/need for bail-outs. Company very welcome. Thanks Iain
