  1. David, I'll join you, see you 9am at the club. Ken
  2. I'll join you. Any chance of leaving the club at 9am? If not then 9.30 is fine.
  3. Guys, I've just returned to cycling after 2.5 years off the bike, and plan to join the short run. I'll meet you at 10.30 for the ferry. Regards, Ken
  4. Good to be back on the bike again, and thanks for waiting on me!!! Not likely to be back again until September, looking forward to it already.
  5. I'll join you this Sunday, see you all then.
  6. Anyone going out Sat am, not too early say 10am, for easy ride.
  7. I'll likely join you, not sure I'll do the whole route, not been on the bike for about 9 weeks.
  8. As most of the 30 mile group will know, I'm heading off to Dubai to work and leave on Monday 18th Feb. Simply too busy on Sunday to take part, but would have liked to. I will be back occasionally and hope to join the Sunday rides, but obviously without doing any bike miles will be less fit than normal!! Will continue to read with interest the descriptions of the Sunday runs. Enjoy the rest of the winter.
  9. Guy's, work has overtaken me, and I can't take the time off today, so will not be there. Looks like it's going to be a great day, sorry to miss out, enjoy the ride.
  10. I have a couple of hours on Wednesday, may not do the full route therefore will make my own way back, so plan to meet you at Red Smiddy at 11.00.
  11. Kenny, 1 x S/S jersey with full length zip, size 4 please. Ken Mac
  12. I presume the usual bunch will be suitably recovered after the festive season and raring to go at 9am as usual. Weather looks not too bad if we get finished before midday.
  13. Six riders assembled at the clubhouse ready for the 9am final Grand Depart of 2007. Bill, Ian, Greg, Stephen Hickey, Davie R and Ken Mac. Some new gear courtesy of Santa was on show including, shoes, pedals, overshoes and a Crash Test Dummy cycle jersey. No prizes for guessing who got that one from Santa!! The six soon became five as we cycled through Houston and Bill punctured. As he was so close to home and as he’s recently discovered how to make porridge, he decided to call it a day, head for home and get his oats for the second time that morning! The rest of us headed out towards West Glen Rd and soon discovered the new young pretender for the KOM title. Greg soon showed us a clean pair of heels, literarily!! He kindly stopped at the top to let us regroup. We continued through Kilmacolm in the direction of Lochwinnoch, and for once without a headwind, so the pace was friendly. Even so, closer to Lochwinnoch Ian suggested a café stop, he didn’t get too many arguments. Suitably fortified we headed down the track to Glengarnock and onto the familiar Admiralty route. A nice steady pace was the order of the day through Gateside, past Greenacres, (there’s a Curling Rink there Davie in case you feel like a game), then down into Howwood. Stephen suggested we have the normal bunch sprint to the 30mph sign in Johnstone. As we began to wind up a really good pace, Davie and Greg were just ahead of yours truly, but not under any real threat, until the last 20 metres when Cadel Evans, sorry, Stephen sliced through us and took the honours. Just as well as it would have been too much if Greg won the sprint as well as the KOM!! After the exertion and to let the heart beat return to something like normal, we ambled back towards the clubhouse, Davie heading for the car and the remaining four making for Bridge of Weir and Houston. I’m sure we all got home about 5 mins before the rain came on. Perfect end to another good day out. Hope everyone has a great new year, and see you next Sunday.
  14. All available 30 milers will be leaving the clubhouse at 9am as usual. Weather looks like it will be cold but dry. Route to be confirmed.
  15. 6.30 is OK for me. A fish supper sounds good.
  16. Yes it was certainly the best bunch ride of the year. Due to the praise heaped on Bill for his performance, it was only right that he picked up the tab for the final ferry!!! Seriously Bill, thanks for that.
  17. Missed the bunch by a few minutes! Ian Manson said you were heading over the Erskine Bridge, so tried to catch up. Failed!! At the north end of the bridge I had no idea what route you had gone, so turned back and did a few loops until I got to Houston, so at least I got a few miles in.
  18. Yes, look forward to seeing you back once you've fully recovered.
  19. Sounds like fun.... pity I'm in Gran Canaria so will miss out.... but looking forward to the week after that.
