  1. Check this out a website where you can construct your own favourite cycling routes and then share them with all you cyclist friends. Cute or what It's like Goggle Earth for bikes www.bikely.com
  2. Does anyone have one of these adapters that allows you to play the compact VHS-C format on a normal sized VHS video. I would like to borrow one in order to copy a tape.

  5. The next set of spinning classes will start on Wednesday 10 January at Linwood Sports Centre at 7.30 and last for 6 weeks. If you want a really good work out aimed at improving fitness and designed for cyclists please come along and join us. All the regulars have signed up for the next session please post or PM me if you are planning on coming along. The 6 weeks cost £18 payable on the first night any money made after the instructor and the hall have been paid is paid into club funds, can't be bad. This session will include an ABs workout session after the spin class which means that you too can have a body like mine (if your not careful)
  6. For anyone interested in applying for this one here is the link to the website for the application forms that will be available from Monday 8th January. http://www.fredwhittonchallenge.org.uk/
  7. Last Sunday while out on the usual club Sunday which saw Dennis, Donald and Lesley, Frank, John, Howie, Aileen and myself on the tandum and Mike Ferguson go out through Lochwinnoch and down the Hailie to Largs. After a cafe stop at Largs we headed up the coast through Gourock it was at this point that Mike celebrated a milestone in his cycling by completing 10,000 miles during 2006 with one week to go. No doubt that Mike will have put more miles under his wheels this week, so congratulations to Mike on this achievement. I worked out that I have done about 7,000 miles this year how many have you done?

  9. Kenny I'm looking for a good B&B in Erskine if I'm doing this one, don't suppose you know of any? The jounney from Houston is a bit much before this event
  10. You are probably aware that next years BNB will be held on 1st September and that entries will open in December. I phoned the Kinlochewe hotel yesterday to try and book up accomodation for next years event and it is fully booked The owner gave me a list of B&Bs to try and I have managed to get into one of these If you are planning to do this event next year I would start thinking about booking something up now or you maybe disappointed. If anyone wants the list of B&Bs email me and I will post them on to you. I should also add that I have my entry booked for next year as I was one of the lucky ones who took part in the questionaire and was pick out of the prize draw and won a free entry into next year BNB
  11. Lots of bargains were had on Tuesday night all half price Thanks to Ian Dooley for coming along The presentation on Pyrenean holidays was very interesting every thing looked superb, the accomodation, food, location and prices. Allan is a cycling coach and can tailor routes to what you want to do. A 3 bed room from 45 euros per night can't be bad, that's 15 euros per person. The website is www.allant.biz they take tours of all the major cols and can even rent bikes. Airport pick ups are also laid on for guests. I would be interested in this for next year, weel worth a look.
  12. Frank and Mike may also join us on Saturday for the day trip along with Howie, weather permiting
  13. Like Dougie I have only got a small one so I will pick up anything needed at Brodick. I think everyone is taking the Ardrossan ferry. The ferry times are from Ardrossan are 9.45 and the next one is 12.30 so I would suggest that we need to leave from the clubrooms no later than 8.00am
  14. The Adventure show fearuring the Bealach na Ba will be on BBC2 on Monday 9th October at 19.00hrs. I hope the show the footage at the start and not the shots taken as you round the last hairpin on the Bealach
  15. Here another couple of options for those of us who have difficulty making up our minds. Saturday's route, Ardrossan ferry to Arran, Lochranza and then island loop. Sunday's route, loop of island long or short and then ferry back to Ardrossan Alternative Sunday route, take the scenic route back which may be more attractive with less weight in the paniers. All this would be subject to hangovers permitting
  16. There have been discussions regarding the route we take to Arran, there appear to be two schools one to take the Calmac route, ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick. The second to take the scenic route over Gourock to Dunoon, Loch Tarsan, Tighnabruaich then the ferry from Claonaig to Lochranza. By my reconning 65 to 70 miles? It's a personal decision as the longer route may not suite everyone and when added to the miles we do while on Arran so we may end up with two groups meeting up at the hostel or should we all go as a club. I have no preference and am happy to go whatever route is decided on. Please post if you have a preference for Ardrossan or Gourock, which ever we decide we can meet up at the clubrooms at 8.00am on Saturday 7th October
  17. Kenny Sounds interesting, I plan to come along what's the kick off time?
  18. This report was taken from the Britishcycling website on Aileen's win at Aigle Switzerland in the 2006 IPC Cycling World Championships earlier today. "Women's 1Km Time Trial - B & VI Head and shoulders above the rest, what a paring Aileen McGlynn and Ellen Hunter are. Recording a time that would have had them 17th (out of 33) in the Men's event, the British riders today not only had a convincing World Record Gold medal win but also showed just how well they can handle their new tandem with a line around the track that most of the men the day before could only dream of. It was an awesome display by them and they did of course well deserve their Rainbow stripes and Gold medals. Riders Reaction to come ... 1. MCGLYNN Aileen/HUNTER Ellen, GBR 1:10.795 (World Record) 2. WHITSELL Karissa/COMPTON Katherine USA 1:13.127 3. FUCHS Michaela/JOHN Sonja GER 1:15.490 4. PARSONS Jayne/LAURENSON Michelle, NZL 1:15.750
  19. Aileen McGlynn and Ellen Hunter have just won the gold medal at the Paralympic European Championships with a time of 1-10.7. Well done Aileen now a world champion as well as an Olyimpic gold medalist.
  20. Lochranza Youth Hostel 7th October I'll be there, let me know if there is anything I can bring, within reason
  21. Lochranza Youth Hostel 7th October I'll be there, let me know if there is anything I can bring, within reason
  22. Ditto for me Anyone fancy taking the scenic route over Loch Tarsan and Tighnabruaich The ferry from Claonaig to Lochranza and you are only 1 mile from the youth hostel
  23. What about some of the Sunday bunch coming along to the curry night, Frank, Dennis, Chung, Mike. Good chat, meet the rest of the members and find out about Arran weekend arrangements.
  24. We appear to have a double posting about the curry venue this Friday so to save anymore confusion we will stick with Darryl's original proposal and meet up in Paisley Ashoka? curry house just up from Dooley's. Sorted
  25. After some deliberations with chief curry muncher De Rosa this Friday night 1st September is curry night the venue is Shimla Pinks in Johnstone meet up at 7.30 for 8.00pm Can we have a response please from all wishing to come along. Scott if you have a problem with "The ring of fire" I find putting the toilet roll in the fridge helps.
