  1. Oh and, clubrooms ok for a meeting point? Heres a suggestion - bike track to Port Glasgow, road round to Largs up the Healy Brae and some more bike track back to Joansin?
  2. Cheers Jim I did used to like a good climb up the braes as its steep and longish for this part of the country. I think i'll try and knock my pan in while my bikes heavy and maybe add a full water bottle as ballast, then hopefully i'll reap the benefits when i upgrade it.
  3. 9.30 is good for me too. If its pouring down i'm in Chungs boat. according to accu weather there should be "a shower" otherwise good. Any ideas on a route?
  4. Is anyone planning on heading out for a run tomorrow morning? I'm easy going for length duration etc so i'm open to suggestions.
  5. My climbing is terrible!! I'm downright rubbish at it. That said, i do like to do myself in with a nice climb up the rest and be thankful for example. But, i was wondering if there were any locations that anyone could recommend to improve my climbing speed and any training advice to go along with it? Any help much appreciated. Cheers Mark
  6. Did you guys ride in that rain last night!!? You are MENTAL!! I'm surprised i never seen you in A&E. But at the same time hats (or helmets) off to yous.
  7. Dilemma time. Decision to be made. What wheels to choose. Have been looking at Shimano's Dura-Ace. The look like very light hoops, has anyone got any experience with them or can anyone recommend a similar spec in a Mavic or Bontrager?
  8. I'm currently running shimano 9 speed and would like to change to 10 speed. Could someone please tell me what parts on my bike i need to change? Is a 10 speed chain just narrower than a 9 speed and i just have to change cassette, shifters and derailleurs? I'm quite ignorant when it comes to this kind of thing.

    Sunday 26

Weather permitting i'll be there. Heavy rain forecast in the morning and brightening up by lunch. (We'll see) Otherwise i'll pop out myself in the afternoon, and just record the tour.
  10. Just wanted to say... Apologies for not replying to a couple of people who PM's me regarding this subject in the past. Personal problems were afoot then.
  11. I'd like to put my bike on a diet. With some of the lovely plastic carbon stuff but ive heard stories of handlebars breaking when riders hav gone over bumps on the road. How likely/common is this to happen? I dont fancy finding out by slamming my face onto the road.
  12. I'm looking gradually add upgrades to my road bike over the next year. I'm looking for decent bits, something like Ultegra. I'm on a bit of a tight budget whilst saving for a hoos. Any help much appreciated.
  13. Thanks for the encouragement today guys. Unfortunately the first sniff of a climb scared my legs, i used to be not a bad climber as well! I did get absolutely soaked when i got to Bishopton on the way back mind you!
  14. I see where your coming from but i think the lay out of the last few hundred metres played a part, if you watch it the barriers close in and move back out and thats what squeezed Hushovd.
  15. Suitable to use as a base to build my 1st dedicated TT bike d'u think?
  16. Sounds good to me, if its absolutely pouring down tomorrow i wont be out tho. A few showers are ok though, light showers ok, heavy rain not so ok.
  17. Its going to be closer than i first thought by the looks of it!! I can see Wiggins on the podium especially with the TT toward the end of the tour. What the f£$k happened to Cavendish today? I totally disagree with the decision to disqualify him!

  22. aaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!! I purchased a pair yesterday. Godam timing!
  23. Sounds and looks good to me. Dont think i could do the weekend of the 15th as i'll b at knockhill. I assume this will be a SOCIAL moderately paced ride?
  24. I'm selling roof bars and bike carrier to fit a Vauxhall Corsa 'C' model. Roof bars lock on to the car and bike carrier locks the bike on so is very secure. Seperate selling price was £180. Not been used much. Pic available on request. £100 offers accepted.
