To help us organise the event please enter now either online www.braveheartfund.com or by post to Alan Miller 1 Porter Drive Kilmarnock KA2 0NA Entry Fee £10 Cheques made payable to Braveheart Fund CYCLE WITH THE STARS Some of the stars of world cycling will be pedaling along the roads of Ayrshire on Saturday, 28 October, as part of a mass participation fundraising ride. Sean Kelly, the Irishman who was world number one for much of the 1980s, and Scotland’s Olympic champion Chris Hoy will lead the rides, over distances of 23 or 43 miles. And they will be joined by another Scottish hero, Graeme Obree – the subject of a recently premiered feature film – as well as Allan Peiper, Ross Edgar, James McCallum & Kate Cullen. Anyone can register to join in these rides, where the emphasis is on participation and fun rather than fitness and speed. Kelly, Hoy and Obree will not be at the front, leading the charge, but have instead promised to move around the groups of cyclists, sharing their experiences and passing on tips to all participants. No previous experience of riding in a group is required – only enthusiasm and enough fitness to ride a bike over 23 miles. And there are no time limits, either. Men and women and boys and girls of all ages and levels of experience are therefore welcome to take part in an unforgettable day out in the company of some of the biggest names in world cycling. The first Braveheart Fundraising Ride was held last year, and it was a great success. Some 400 riders took part, including Kelly, Hoy and Obree, with all participants hailing a memorable day out, on a route selected to take in some of the best roads and quiet lanes of Ayrshire. With registration now open, this year’s ride is scheduled to beat last year’s figure – and 500 is the target. 11. The Glasgow Grand Prix needs your help! The Glasgow GP, a British elite circuit series event, on Monday 28th August needs entries. Glasgow City Council is using this event to showcase their 2014 Commonwealth Games bid. Event Scotland will also be in attendance to see how popular these events can be with the possibility of more events like this in the future. The old ‘Kellogg’s’ events were fantastic and it would be great to bring back this atmosphere to the city centre’s of Britain once again. Let’s support this event and show people that cycling can be a spectacle. Help bring cycling back to our city centre’s where it belongs! The course is a rectangular circuit of approx. one kilometer and pancake flat. The streets are between 2-3 lanes wide so there is plenty room for a full field. Suitable for not only road riders but track riders and any others wanting to test out their form against some of Britain’s best. A handful of Tour of Britain competitors will be riding to spin their legs. The event will be covered by cycling.tv so make sure you practice your pose. GCC are going to do a marketing campaign for the Glasgow GP including posters around the area of the square and in all their facilities and will also target Radio Clyde and local press to get the message across as much as possible. They are also trying to get some events in the middle of the square such as demonstration trials riding etc. Scottish Cycling are going to promote an event before the main Elite event for Future Stars to bring youth racing to the heart of Glasgow. Everything is in place so all we need now is the support of all the riders - get those entries in and spread the word to all potential spectators and lets have a great event to rival the Kellogg’s of yesteryear. Send your entry and £15 (£8-youths) to Graeme McGinty 3C Calderhaugh Mill Main Street Lochwinnoch PA12 4AJ cheques payable to Graeme McGinty You can contact Graeme at [email protected] to let him know your intentions. See you all there for what is building up to be a fantastic evening for all the family!

most people that look for shortcuts do not train as hard as others....you cannot substitute hard training by anything else as i have said earlier....Lance train's alone most of the time because his training methods would kill most others....you either have it or you don't....the biggest drug is your mentality...how do you feel when you look out of the window on a sunday morning ?....raining or sunny....if you think it is sunny everyday you look out then you have the mentality to be a pro cyclist.....can you walk away from your mates on a friday night when they are drinking to go home to bed ?.....can you live in a land where you struggle to converse with others ?.....can you live away from your loved ones ?.....when things aren't going well can you overturn the negatives by yourself ?.......answer yes to all these questions and you have a good mentality to be a pro cyclist.....now think about all the others in the world that said yes to all these questions....after all these sacrifices would you risk everything to get caught for using drugs.....better to have been there an earned an honest crust than to have the rest of your life tarnished by shame....i can hold my head up high and say i done my best....the thought never crosses my mind what i could of done with the use of other substances....you cannot turn a mule into a racehorse.....enjoy riding the bike and watching the spectacle of the top pro races....just remember that most riders suffering out there are riding natural and for the love of the sport !
