Where is he now? scotland on sunday had an article on him last week, talking about the Scottish cyclist who "looked like a Dickensian chimney sweep". it's at http://news.scotsman.com/archive.cfm?id=766602004

  8. Now we can see why Lance is nipping Sheryl Crow : from Cyclingnews.com There's a time to beat! Blending in with the media mosh today at her significant other Lance Armstrong's pre-Tour de France press conference, rock star Sheryl Crow confirmed to Cyclingnews that her current passion for cycling is paying off with performance. "Yes, it's true", Crow told us when we asked her to confirm the rumour that her time up l'Alpe d'Huez was 90 minutes from Bourg d'Oisans to the summit aboard her Trek Madone.
  9. this from today's glasgow herald... Puzzle of the pedaller baring all on his bike OH the cheeks of it. Police are on the trail of a birthday-suited bicyclist who has been seen riding through a Scots town. Wearing nothing but goosebumps and a baseball cap, the naked cyclist streaks through the streets of Paisley in Renfrewshire. One woman to have a nude awakening said: "This man can't be the full shilling. The last few nights have been so chilly. He must have been covered in goosepimples." On one occasion, the mystery nudist was spotted by two men as they made their way home after a night-out. He made a rude gesture to them before jumping on his bike and pedalling off into the darkness. They contacted the police who had received a previous report of the lone nude cyclist. A Strathclyde police source said: "Some people might giggle at the idea of a nude cyclist, but this man clearly needs help. "If I was out at that time of the morning and spotted this naked man I would feel threatened. He needs to be taken off the streets. If anyone knows who this man may be they should contact police." Italians

Did anyone read Petttachi's quote after the crash at the finish of yesterday's Giro stage? It beats anything a footballer will come up with in the post match interview, hands down. "Unfortunately in the finale there was a crash which involved Cipollini and I'm sorry about this. If Mario did not start the Giro tomorrow, we would lose a certain protagonist and the glamour of our duel on the pedals. Therefore I hope with all of my heart that tomorrow he is on the road." the glamour of our duel on the pedals! Now I know why I love Italians. m

    Bikes on Ryanair

This is shaping up to be a great topic for discusssion: just shows how paranoid we are about our bikes (And quite right too). I personally favour the bike bag approach as opposed to the 'bare bike'. One of my colleagues at work is a tandem tourer, so when he flies he has no choice but to turn up at the airport and hand the bike over. But... he has described the very painful experience of watching his bike being wheeled through a door by a baggage handler, followed by the muffled but obvious crashing sound of his bike being flung across a room. He's also been daft enough to look out of the aircraft window to watch baggage being unloaded and seen his bike hitting the tarmac. The paintwork isn't what it used to be... I guess you pay your money and takes your chance, but before you make up your mind, have a look at http://www.bikeaccess.net/BikeAccess/default.cfm just proves that we're not the only ones who worry m

    Bikes on Ryanair

hi there never flown with them, but explored their pricing when I was planning a trip to italy last year. I believe they do charge £15 per flight leg, so if you need to go somewhere via london = 4 flights = £60.00 m
