  1. Looking a wee bit better, now. Still tons to do. Why not leave a message on the board? http://lastminutecycling.bravehost.com
  2. http://lastminutecycling.bravehost.com/index.html Still under construction (nowhere near complete), but could prove to be a useful site. Any suggestions regarding site content (ie. what to put in it and suggested external links) would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. How about chase after them and knock their bag in! Unless the polis have any better ideas? As far as I'm aware, a serious assault would usually warrent an investigation.
  4. Been a bit busy lately, but here are some results from the bike tests: VO2 max Kelly 6.82 l/min, Stu 4.80 l/min, Martin 5.17 l/min, Mark 3.55 l/min. Anaerobic threshold (as a % of VO2max) Kelly 49%, Stu 50%, Martin 71%, Mark 80% so, in l/min..... Kelly 3.34, Stu 2.4, Martin 3.67, Mark 2.84 Apologies for the delay. With all the training (or lack of) since, the values may be quite different.
  5. No probs Darryl, It'll give me some ammunition to use on the 'word count' Hope your knee gets better soon
  6. yep, Darryl, that'll be ok Thanks
  7. I've only got a few weeks until the end of the uni year, so I need to start interpreting data and writing up the results. Could the following people let me know if they might be available for testing next week, on either Wed 7th or Fri 9th: Kelly vdT Mark Darryl Martin Thanks
  8. The preliminary data I have for completed tests only gives info for time-points on each minute. In many cases, higher scores were achieved than those I have on paper (eg the computer says Martin's VO2max is over 5L/min whereas the printout I have says 4.12ish is the highest value). For this reason, I'll wait until I have interpreted all the data from the computer before giving out results. Hopefully this will be by the end of the week. However, I can tell you at this stage that all of the Wheelers have scored exceptionally well on the 'grit-o-meter'
  9. Hi Sean, Is a Friday any good, or would you rather keep them free?
  10. Just wondering......would participants like their data kept quiet, or posted? At present, I can tell you VO2max, Anaerobic threshold as a % of VO2max and also the heart-rate, to which this corresponds. Basically, the higher your %VO2max, the faster you can TT. Also, if you are racing etc, let me know and I can arrange for your test day/time to suit, thus avoiding any possible fatigue effects.
  11. Although tiredness can affect the outcome of the test, I wouldn't expect the test itself to be too detrimental to performance, the next day. Perhaps it was just the fact it was combined with cycling later? If anyone is training/racing soon after, I'd strongly recommend replenishing all those burned-off carbs and making sure you are fully hydrated. I'll be taking a test myself, tomorrow, and then doing the Bucklyvie 10 on saturday. You can be sure that for first couple of hours after the test I'll be destroying some pasta and noodles, washed down with dilute energy juice
  12. Apologies to Stevie Blom for the confusion over times etc. Kelly - Wed 17th 9:30 Sean Gray - Wed 17th 9:30 and Wed 24th 9:30 Mark Logan (and possibly girlfriend) - Wed 17th 1:30 and Wed 24th 1:30 Martin - Wed 17th 1:30 and Wed 24th (time tbc) Scott D - Wed 24th 9:30 and Wed 31st 9:30 Darryl Gunson - The first date I have you down for is Fri 19th (time tbc). Since you're in the uni already, I can be more flexible with time slots for you. Stevie Blom - dates/times tbc Stu - dates/times tbc Note - These tests are not exhaustive, in terms of recovery, and anyone taking part will be fine for racing, the next day. I would advise you to come fairly 'fresh' (in terms of nutrition and rest) for the tests, to avoid any unnecessary fatigue. On the day you will just need to bring some 'sporty' clothes and a pair of trainers. No bikes are necessary. Meeting place is main entrance to Paisley Uni. I have maps/directions for all who need them. Finally, to be eligible, you cannot be insulin dependant, have heart probs or have your blood pressure controlled by medicines etc. If any of the above times are unsuitable, just let me know and I'll make other arrangements for you. If you'd like my phone no. to discuss any issues, send me an email at [email protected]
  13. A big well done to Kelly who attained a monster score in the treadmill lab test!!! I'm looking forward to seeing the bike results (Blomsan) Stevie - Did you come to the uni today (thurs)? I was there until 10, but had to go to a class. I may still be able to organise a test session for this afternoon (after 3pm), if you can get in touch with me, either through the message board or by e-mail ([email protected]).
  14. Hi all, I've sent PMs to all those who responded to my earlier post, asking for volunteers. If the times I've suggested are not suitable, or if anyone else would like to volunteer, just let me know and I'll sort something out, asap.
