This was a bunch just like the ones that many of you ride with: safety conscious and experienced. The conditions were also similar to those that we have experienced recently: cold and icy. A sad and salutary reminder as to just how dangerous the roads can be... Take care out there and join me in extending our deepest sympathy to the members of Rhyl CC and the families of those involved. Members Kenny MacDonald
Club are in process of sending a message of sympathy to Rhyl cycling club. The TV pictures and fotos in paper were horrendous, something I hope we never experience again. The club had a similar but non fatal incident 20 odd years ago. A drunk driver ploughed into the bunch taking them into a field on outskirts of Beith. That day the bunch was mainly made up of juveniles and juniors. How no one was killed still is a mystery but severe cuts ,bruising and a couple of fractures was the worst we experienced. The police made the driver watch as one of our juveniles had his tongue stitched up at RAH , it certrainly sobered him up fast. I am sure all our thoughts go out to the families devastated by this incident.
