2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted July 12, 2014 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted July 12, 2014 Was today on the A77 circuit. 3 laps starting at bottom of dams climb and finishing 1/2 way up the climb. So 3.1/2 times up the dams and 3 times over the clunch for about 52 miles. On the A77 drag stretch on lap 2 there was a sprackle fest of many small groups firing off the front. It boiled down to about 18 off the front and the peleton of about 40. The break stuck and unfortunately Colin and I were in the peleton. To be honest I made a full gas effort in one of the sprackle groups and just did not have the gas required to get across. So the peleton rolled round shedding a lot of bodies on the way and on the final effort up to the finish I was second or third ( it was that close I don't know) but we were going for about 18th place All good fun, should have made the effort to get in the break earlier Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

While I was pleased with my efforts in making it over the first four climbs with the bunch and in good position turning on to the A77. I then burned too many matches by allowing myself to be in the wrong part of the bunch for the prevailing South Westerly and found myself sliding out the back on one of the short drags which just took the last ounce of glycogen from the legs. Stepped on the gas for a bit but it was obvious that I wasn't getting back on to the group de McDonald. Went into time trial for the remaining lap.
