Olympic Road Race Sat 28th July

Been mulling this one over for a couple of days. Does anyone fancy going down to witness this free event. Its probably far enough away in the calendar to organise something (notwithstanding accommodation!!!!!). Was thinking of making a weekend of it, perhaps driving down on the Friday with an overnight stay and then riding to the course and back on the Saturday, then a ride on the Sunday before heading home.

 

I haven't really looked at anything in detail and I have no idea if this clashes with other events which members might already have in their diaries so treat this post as a sounding out of potential interest. Its unlikely most of us will see an Olympic road race again in our lifetimes and it might be something worth considering. If you're interest post up and we'll take it from there.

Hi Mark

 

I had similar plans to go down and spend a day on Box Hill to watch the bunch several times but it is going to be very difficult to get access on the hill now and the finish is ticket only.

 

So we might get to see the bunch twice in Surrey on the flat, ie 30 secs of racing. Will do some research.

Would def like to see the road race, it's the good lady's birthday the day before so will need to try and save up some real brownie points, keep me in the loop with any developments.

Note however that I have received the following from the Olympic ticketing boys "This is now ticketed. "General sale at 11am Tuesday 29th for those unsuccessful previously. "
