Guest Jim Daly
Drummond next Sunday will feature most of the top British pro racers in our backyard: Pinarello-Candi-tv Plowman-Craven Madison Rapha-Condor KUK Kinesis Endura & The Joansin You are too late to enter this event but would make a good destination for the Sunday Bunch. I'll update with the course route but probably 5 times round the old Stewarton Road/A77 to end up Ballagioch Hill.

mattulyatt
Best of luck Jim. Would have been good to come and watch this one - alas, work takes me down to London town this weekend so no racing again!
Committee Alan McLean Posted April 14, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 14, 2009 Jim This is a fantastic field. Absolutely huge respect to you for entering. Please give us a report. You have been looking really good through the winter; I am sure you'll be in top form for this. I am working but will try to get along with a camera. Committee Alan McLean Posted April 14, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 14, 2009 Jim Do you have a map link for us mere spectators? Can't find it on Braveheart. A
Guest Jim Daly
Obviously, I entered this before the Archer Premier Calendar race was cancelled and forced a few decent cyclists to consider another racing weekend in Scotland. I wonder if they will show up for the tli APR at Moniaive? HQ for Drummond this year is opposite a school on Strathaven Rd, Eaglesham. Starts at 11am. Neutral along Montgomery Street / B764. Turn right on to A77 and race begins after a brief stop. Turn left 1km after M77 junction (near the Malletsheugh). Turn left again onto Dodside Rd (B769, known as old Stewarton Rd). Feed station at quarry about 3km along B769 (a bottle or some steak, egg and chips would be much appreciated). Turn left 4km before and to the North of Stewarton. Turn left back onto A77about 2-3km North of Fenwick. Repeat 5 laps. Not confirmed, but usually turn right onto B764. After about 3km finish at high point (Ballagioch Hill) on road to Eaglesham. I'm afraid a top three placing is out of the question. 3 completed laps may well turn out to be an achievement. Forecast is currently showing very light winds. Committee Alan McLean Posted April 15, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 15, 2009 Jim If Rapha-Condor invite you as a stagiare then ask if you can still wear a Joansin cap. Have a great ride. The elites outnumber the other Cats. Phew. A
Committee Alan McLean Posted April 15, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 15, 2009 Also, where do you reckon is the fiercest climb/best spot on the main circuit to get some photos please? Do you think we can drive round the course to spot you or will there be partial road closure? A
Committee Alan McLean Posted April 15, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 15, 2009 Found a chevron at GR 487509. Looks like a grandstand seat.
Guest Jim Daly
Best chance to get a photo of me is during the neutral section. I wont last long after that. Top of the feed area is the longest steepest climb. I can't quite locate your Grid Ref. Seems to be at junction with a useful link road that splits the circuit in two and passes Black Loch. Both ends of that road would see the racers go by pretty fast. Whenever I try to map out the route, it fails to save.
Members Kenny MacDonald
Alan the climb over from Old Stewarton road to A77 looks like best place to get som fotos its narrow twisty and steep, its where Bill T and myself are heading ( watch out for the potholes)
2023 Subscriptions Ramsay Posted April 16, 2009 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted April 16, 2009 I've got a TT first thing on Sunday down at Irvine, but if I finish early (don't know my start time yet) I'll try and head across to shout a few words of encouragement. Have fun Jim.
Committee Alan McLean Posted April 16, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 16, 2009 Wrong road. I'll just follow the line of plane crash victims..
Committee Alan McLean Posted April 19, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted April 19, 2009 That last post was in inadvertent bad taste. There was a great turnout in lovely weather today and it was good to see so many top riders. One JWCC, Jim, holding his own against the bunch, and lots of Wheelers turned up to spectate. But I am sorry to say there was a crash on the second lap and the race had to stopped. Best wishes to the injured riders. A
