Guest Jim Daly
Does anyone have a box I can buy, rent or borrow. I'm going on an all expenses paid cycling holiday to Portsmouth during the last two weeks in April. Well, not exactly a holiday. It may be possible to redeem a fortnight of misery with a training/racing opportunity.

2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted March 29, 2009 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted March 29, 2009 Heres an idea, borrow both bags and my bag and put them inside each other, 3 bags stronger than a box? PMcD
Guest Jim Daly
Thanks for kind offers and novel idea from Paul. In your experience, is a bag robust enough for airport baggagehandlers? Jim
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted March 29, 2009 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted March 29, 2009 Jim In 18 years of using bags, albeit with heavily padded bikes, The only issue I ever had was a minor wheel buckling which was quickly sorted. Just make sure you remove rear mech and wrap up inside frame, you must fit drop out spacers and do all the other bits like turn bars, loosen shift levers so they can move if bashed, remove and wrap up seat pin and saddle in old tee shirts, stick in lots of cardboard each side of frame, loosen all cables and reclamp etc. Give me a call if you want me to bore you with my theory on bike transporting But I guess it just takes one bad experience !
