  1. 2 riders and a timekeeper. Sorry, guys, I really need at least one more rider to make this worthwhile. If no one posts up they’re riding by 5 pm tomorrow, I’ll call the event off.
  2. All right then, given the limited responses, we will go to the restricted gear course The course: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/651582320 Please note that the start point has been moved to the duck pond where parking is better and traffic is slower. This should make the start a little safer for everyone. same timing, 7.00 for 7.15 off. I’d really like 2 marshals (turn 1 and turn 4) as well as a timekeeper, but I’ll take what I can get. Meetup at the clubrooms for 6pm to ride up as a bunch is also an option, but post up if you’re coming along
  3. Sadly, the lane closure that was supposed to end on 11th June is still in place, and likely to remain so for some time. We will not be racing on the Westferry this, or probably next week, and the Frank Lauder 10 is also in jeopardy. So, we have a choice. 1. Use the restricted gear course for a 2 lap, 10 mile event as part of the league of 10. 2. Use the Hilly course as part of the league of 10. 3. Georgetown road for another Chocolate series. 4. Abandon this week completely. My favoured option would be 1, because it could be a straight swap on the calendar assuming the Westferry reopens in mid July. Sensible opinions please.
  4. A return to the Westferry in preparation for the upcoming 10 mile club championship. 7.00 meet for 7.15 off. Usual meeting place at the bottom of Bishopton Hill. Can we get a volunteer to timekeep please. Just a reminder that rear lights are mandatory.
  5. Turned out to be a cool, windy evening, with a bit of a stiff crosswind springing up during the early evening. Well done to all who took part. Dave F. 20.20, paid x 2 Scott. 18.03 Gerard 17.53 paid Tommy 20.25 i have transfered £9 to the club account.
  6. Apologies for late posting, but, Tuesday evening, 7.15 meet for 7.30 off, a volunteer to timekeep please. Post up if you’re coming along. Bring your own oxygen mask.
  7. Another great run out today. Loved the descent into Stewarton, even though I was struggling to hang on at the back. Defo needed the cafe stop.
  8. Well done everyone last night and many thanks to Iain for giving up his own effort to timekeep for us. I have transferred £12 to the club account.
  9. Number 4 in our truncated season, 7.15 meet for 7.30 off. As usual, a willing volunteer is required to timekeep, while everyone gets to leave their lungs out on the road. Post up if you’re coming along.
  10. Dave Cowan, Paul, Gerard and Scott ( from last week), all paid last night, I have transferred £12 to the club account. Well done to all the riders last night.
  11. £9 transferred to the club account.
  12. Good run. Really enjoyed it once I got over my early malaise.
  13. 7 of us set off from the clubrooms on a warm but windy summers evening. Stuart, Lauren, Dan, Alan, Kenny, Gary and me. Stuart and Lauren dropped out at Kilbarchan, but the rest of us carried on, staying together (mostly), helping out the riders that struggled with the hard bits, particularly once we got pas the 20 mile mark. We had a great tailwind on the way out, but that made it a little tougher on the way back, especially on the uphill bits, however, we all arrived back at the clubrooms together. Pace was slow enough to chat, quick enough to stay warm as temperatures dropped. A good start to the social runs.
  14. Now that we're into the lighter nights, the third chocolate series race of this season will be 8th June, 7.00 meet for 7.15 off. As usual, a volunteer will be required for timekeeping.
  15. Ladies and gents, after discussion, I have decided that there will be a small re-arrangement to the confined event calendar. The 2 x 25 mile TTs on Lochlibo Road on 6th and 13th July will be cancelled, and replaced by 2 x 10 mile TTs on the Westferry. The second of those (13th July) will be the Frank Lauder memorial 10. We will also change the Chocolate #8 to a 10 on the Westferry, so that there are 2 'warmup' 10s before the Frank Lauder. I have posted an amended schedule.
  16. Lovely evening for a brutal, lumpy TT. Thanks to Dave and Carol for timekeeping and post ride complex carbohydrate recovery drinks. Without actually doing the sums on it, I think this puts Gerard in front on the league of 10 for this season. So far, anyway.
  17. I can timekeep unless we have another volunteer.
  18. We really need more than 2 riders to make this work. Anyone else up for some lumpy TT fun?
  19. Excellent run out today at a sensible pace. Thanks all.
  20. Happy to take up the lantern rouge for this run.
  21. Going back onto the confined event calendar track, we return to the league of 10 this week, but not on the Westferry. Instead the course is the Hilly TT route from Langbank to Houston, then returning to finish at Gleddoch House. 6.45 meet for 7.00 off. Meeting place is at the bottom of the hill in Langbank, just along from the Coast ( formerly the Wheelhouse). As usual, a volunteer to timekeep is required.
  22. Same as last week, 6.45 for 7pm off, riders and a timekeeper volunteer required please. Sadly, I will not be available this week, but that shouldn’t stop anyone else.
  23. Planning to ride. The timekeeper may need a calendar.
  24. Gerard’s payment is covered.😁 £12 transferred to the club account. A cracking night for it tonight, and that was my best time since 2019……
  25. I've been along the Westferry tonight, and sure enough, our good friend A Lane Closure has come to visit just after Finlaystone for about a half mile. There will be no TT until the road is fully open again. My sources tell me it wil be 10th June at the earliest. We will therefore divert to the Georgetown Road, and pick up event #1 in the Chocolate series. 6.45 for 7.00 off, the meeting point is at the end of the Georgetown Road (also known as Houston Road, at the Barnsford Road end) just next to the Military camp. The Chocolate series is a developmental event, targetted at new or slower riders. It is 7.2 miles long, and as flat as you like. Still looking for a timekeeper for tomorrow night.
