  1. Good ride tonight. Struggled with the heat - have an industrial floor fan so cant really have much more airflow so will need to think about getting an ice vest or something!
  2. 50 minute group ride starting at 6pm sticky draft on so no-one will be dropped for this. Remember to follow Johnstone Wheelers on the companion app if you want an invite Before the event is due to start make sure you have opened up the game and can see your avatar and bike - you can ride about on any course or just sit waiting. When it is 5 minutes to the start of the meetup a dialogue box will appear on the bottom left of the screen - select that and it will take you to the start of the group ride. Course is London
  3. If there is a missing invite then if you go on the companion app then click ‘events’ then select the meetup tab it should show up events you have an invite too Tagging @George too as this would have helped on Mondays ride

  5. Meetup time is a bit earlier than normal at 5.30pm 50 minute group ride, sticky draft on so no-one will be dropped for this. Course is Richmond. The meetup function now allows any map to be used so hopefully this will mean quieter roads.
  6. Good ride although the map was a little bit busy in places so a little hard to make out where everyone was!

  8. 100% means you feel the hills more - so a 10% gradient feels like 10% and you will need to change gears. I have mine set to about 25% so i can stay in the big ring and it also reduces the number of gear changes under load when racing. The default is 50% It's meant to be about 20% but for me the draft effect just makes the speed go faster rather than the effort level easing off much!
  9. There is some compensation for that - a lighter rider has a lower coefficient of drag in the game so on flat roads they will go faster compared to a heavier rider doing the identical watt. There is a website that has tested this with bots - lots of details @ https://zwiftinsider.com/rider-weight-speed/ Bike and wheel choice also makes a difference too, some are lighter so can save time on climbs and some are aero so a bit faster on the flats. The TT bike is the fastest for solo riding however you cannot draft on it so ends up being slower for group rides
  10. The roads were pretty busy so it was a bit hard to see everyone and know what the time gaps were. I think the winner came from the scratch group, but i was dropped pretty early on so not 100% sure on that.
  11. Speed on the flats is about outright watts rather that w/kg. Being able to do more power going up hill rather than on the flat is common outdoors too. There is probably a physiological reason for it as you need to overcome more resistance (which a smart turbo will recreate by increasing the resistance when going uphill) and partly it is a mental thing. On the flat it is easy to back off a little and still maintain speed, when you do that on the hills you notice the drop in speed much quicker.
  12. I got pumped too.... i lasted longer sticking to Rohan Dennis' wheel on Sunday than i lasted with Joshua and Graham tonight
  13. That was my intention however zwift sent me straight on and down the hill rather than up the steep bit.....i suppose i could have u turned but by then i was quite enjoying freewheeling 😂
  14. 45 minute group ride, sticky draft on so no-one will be dropped for this. When the 45 minutes is up then if you want you can race to the KOM banner. The circuit is London Loop, i've tried to estimate the event time to mean the sticky draft will turn off about half way up Box Hill on the 2nd lap.
  15. Michael is running an APR meetup on Tuesday. It's 30km in total and the first 5 km is easy as a group, then the scratch group will stop for 2 minutes and let the rest carry on. Then it will be a chase to the finish on the watopia flat course. Will be a mix of Wheelers, Ivy and Gales taking part. Follow 'Michael Burke Ivy' for an invite
  16. 50 minute group ride, sticky draft on so no-one will be dropped for this. When the 50 minutes is up then if you want you can race to the KOM banner. Will be about 5 minutes left of the climb by then i think Remember to follow Johnstone Wheelers on the companion app if you want an invite Before the event is due to start make sure you have opened up the game and can see your avatar and bike - you can ride about on any course or just sit waiting. 17. I have zwift running on my ipad and the companion app on my phone
  18. 50 minute group ride, sticky draft on so no-one will be dropped for this. When the 50 minutes is up continue riding as a group, then when we get to the climb for the second time it is a race to the top should you want to do that. Remember to follow Johnstone Wheelers on the companion app if you want an invite Before the event is due to start make sure you have opened up the game and can see your avatar and bike - you can ride about on any course or just sit waiting. 19. Sorry about the mix up with sticky draft, was playing about with the settings and while doing so i automatically joined the start pen so didnt want to edit anything incase it lost the meetup! Anyway great effort by David and Karen getting back onto the front bunch by the top of the hill in the jungle....Billy tantalising close only 2 seconds back. The bunch flows a bit more naturally without the sticky draft on, however its obviously not so good for keeping group together. So i’ll keep it on most of the time but maybe have a ride each week without it. Or perhaps do back to back shorter meetups - say 45 minute ride with it on then a 10 minute break then a 30 minute ride with it off.
  20. the companion app allows that - there is a 'zwifters nearby' tab and beside that 'zwifters you follow'.
  21. Looking at the lap times then 2 minutes sounds about right. Will make for a painful chase though!
  22. That was pretty tough! My avatar was frozen on the turbo at the start so had to reload and join late outwith the group well done to Conal hanging on with Michael and the two Pauls...all strong guys! impressive w/kg
