  1. A great turnout on a lovely sunny evening with little wind, 13 cyclists and number of supporters and helpers. The times were: Jess 20:54 Hamish 18:22 Lusia 20:36 Emma 18:54 Charlie 19:13 James McL. 21:52 Mike F. 19:18 Iain McGinty 17:38 Iain Cowden 17:46 Richard 17:09 Adam 18:15 Billy 18:04 George 17:55 Well done to all. All eight adults paid, so £24 to club funds.
  2. I'll not be competing, so will come along to help, another volunteer would also be helpful for holding-up. Weather looks promising so lets have a good turnout!!!
  3. So it will be Sheila's Diner next year then! 18 main bunch and 4 'social' riders.
  4. I'm planning on cycling from Kilmacolm to McInroy's Point for the 11:20 ferry, leaving the Pulman in Kilmacolm at 10:00. Company welcome, could do extra miles after the Coylet Inn if desired!
  5. The fourth of this year's scheduled Chocolate Series of TTs, a good showing last time, but first-timers and returners always welcome! First rider off at 19:00 this week (later evenings ), so meet at 18:45 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road. Here's the link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route I hope to be out this time, either competing or officiating.
  6. By my calculations if you leave the Club Room at 0800 and average say 15 mph, you should be at the Coylet at about 13:00. That seems like a civilised time of day to go to a pub, so I suggest those doing shorter routes aim for 12:30 so as to beat the rush! I'm planning on being there, but not committing to a route until the day before, as I have some miles to get in before then. Billy, I wouldn't dream of telling you which route to take, but the mileage and climbing in option 4 above does not include Hells Glen. Other options are possible.....
  7. Looks wet in the morning, I think I'll go out in the late afternoon when it looks like it will be dryer! (I'm being a wimp)
  8. After the success of last years trip, here is a similar one for this year, but instead of the Post Office cafe, I suggest the Coylet Inn on Loch Eck as the coffee stop. (I spoke to Creggan's Inn, but they said they couldn't cope with us at a weekend.) Lots of options of how to get there to suit all ambitions and training programmes, including (with distances from the ferry): 1. Straight from the ferry - 8 miles and flat! But could go up to Strachur first bringing the distance up to 28 miles, 500 ft. 2. A western route via Loch Tarzan and the A886 (Glendaruel) - 40 miles, 2,000 ft. 3. Loch Tarzan and C11 – 46 miles, 2,600 ft. 4. Over The Rest via Glen Fruin, 62 miles, 2,600 ft from Erskine Bridge. Start times may vary depending on routes chosen, but there are outbound ferrys at 08:30, 09:00, 09:30, 10:00, 10:20
  9. The third of this year's scheduled Chocolate Series of TTs. First rider off at 18:45 this week, so meet at 18:30 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road. Here is a link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route Jane and I can't be there this time, 2 volunteers for timekeeping / pushing off please.
  10. 9:30 it is then, looks like it'll be great weather Further company welcome.....
  11. I'm planning a ride up to Eaglesham and Whitelee Wind Farm on Thursday morning for a few hills and some coffee at the wind farm. Anyone with the time and inclination to join me would be welcome, here's a link to a suggested route. 42 miles round trip from Johnstone. Meet 9:15 @ Amaretto's in Bridge of Weir, or 9:30 @ Morrison's in Johnstone.
  12. I'll look forward to Sarah towing us round! See you in the morning.
  13. After the weather being against us last week, Tuesday the 7th April is the second of this year's scheduled Chocolate Series of TTs. First rider off at 18:30, so meet at 18:15 at the usual place towards the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road. Here is a link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route I can't be there this time, but 2 volunteers for timekeeping / pushing off please.
  14. I'm planning a trip over the river to Glen Fruin and Garelochhead (cafe) on Saturday. Here's a link to a possible route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/665825872 67 miles round trip. Meeting at the Pullman in Kilmacolm at 09:00, I anticipate an Intermediate pace. Would anyone like to come along?
  15. As we've no definite riders for this tonight I am planning to stay at home in the warm, and not come out to timekeep. We'll hope for better weather next week!
  16. It's due to be a bit stormy this evening, but I will come and timekeep if there are any confirmed entries! So if you are planning to battle the wind and rain, please post confirmation or I may not be there! We are still short of a second volunteer to push off, perhaps a chance for a new member to get involved and see what goes on before participating another time.
  17. Tuesday the 31st March sees the start of this year's Chocolate Series of Time Trials. The first five running on Tuesday evenings up to the end of April, with the second five across June. For those unfamiliar with what the Chocolate Series is about, here is a link to an explanation: The Story of the Chocolate Trophy The route is from the Inchinnan end of Georgetown Road, arround the large roudabout at Houston and back to the start, about 7 miles. Here is a link to the course: JWCC Georgetown Road TT Route Riders with a time for 10 miles of less than 26 minutes don't qualify for the Chocolate Trophy, but there is a new trophy for sub 26 minute riders, so there is something for everyone to compete for! First rider off at 18:30, so meet at 18:15. I will help officiate this week, but another volunteer also needed for timekeeping / pushing off.
  18. 10:00am Langbank, about 10 miles. Following on from last week, which was great fun with wonderful weather! This is the second and final of the Langbank Hillys this season, so your last chance to record a time. As last week, the start is in Langbank, just along from The Wheelhouse restaurant. The course runs up the B789 all the way to the small roundabout in the middle of Houston, where you turn and re-trace most of the way back to Langbank. The end of the course cuts off to the left before the last steep sections and finishes at the entrance to Gleddoch Country Club. Here is a link to the route: http://www.mapmyride.../view/650383978 An undulating course, reasonably quiet road for those yet to do their first TT, open to those who intend to join the club or are already a member. Iain Cowden and Mike Ferguson have offered to officiate, but supporters / photographers are always welcome.
  19. I'm planning to ride this. and Jane has offered to timekeep
  20. A good morning out, well done to the competitors, and a big thankyou to Jann and the other helpers and supporters!
  21. Oops, thanks Ian for pointing out the problem with the link. Here is a link to a new version of the course, I hope this one works! http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/651582320
  22. I'm hoping to ride this, but will timekeep if no other volunteers. It's looking like better weather than last year, so it would be good to have some more competitors to join in the fun! If there's support we can do a run afterwards and find a cafe (Stewarton?)
  23. 10:00am Langbank, about 10 miles. Following on from the Restricted Gear TT, this is the first of 2 Langbank Hillys. The start is in Langbank, just along from The Wheelhouse restaurant. The course runs up the B789 all the way to the small roundabout in the middle of Houston, where you turn and re-trace most of the way back to Langbank. The end of the course cuts off to the left before the last steep sections and finishes at the entrance to Gleddoch Country Club. Here is a link to the route: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/650383978 An undulating course, reasonably quiet road for those yet to do their first TT, open to those who intend to join the club or are already a member. As usual 2 volunteers please for pushing off and timekeeping. Guidance can be provided for anyone who has not taken on these roles before!
  24. This is the first Confined Event of the season, about 10 miles on a hilly route, restricted to the small chainring. (I'll bring along some cable ties to temporarily disable your large chainring!) Here is a link to the route: www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/14767304, the TT is 2 laps. Another link that should work! : http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/651582320 This is a fun event, a bit different from traditional TTs, and can act as an introduction to the seasons confined events for both those new to TTs and old hands! Two volunteers please for pushing off and timekeeping.
  25. Looks a good route Chung, would like to do it on another date, I enjoyed the Restricted Gear TT last year!
