  1. Another great day, different route. Met up with Mark and we headed along the cycle path which we found was covered in snow and slush. Had a quick chat with Brian at the clubrooms but when no-one else turned up we headed off on a 65mile route that took us down to Troon. Mark said his legs were heavy at the start but I felt really bad for the last 10 miles or so. Hadn't eaten enough!!! Good run except I had a bit of knee pain afterwards
  2. Might have to bring both bikes and turbo along tomorrow and see what's happening/who's going where! The Sufferfest dvd's are really good. I've got all 5 of them if we fancy any for the clubrooms?
  3. Great weather. Without spoiling for others who might have it recorded, the two incidents in the last couple of kms!!
  4. Had a good bit of snow in Glengarnock this morning. On the way to Ayr it turned to rain and it's just spitting a wee bit in Ayr just now. Certainly nowhere near the weather we had for the Moscow reliability. Hopefully the rain will be moving north.
  5. It's snowing!! Mark...ok mate. I hadn't seen the forecast for tomorrow. Do we have possible numbers? Enough to shelter from the elements??!
  6. Ouch! Here's to speedy recovery!
  7. Is that you back on the road Brian?
  8. Sounds good to me. Not sure how the extra mileage will go but I should make it round most of the way! 8.30 on the track again Mark?
  9. Both sound good to me. While I wouldn't last the distance of the hilly Flanders route, I wouldn't be far from home..depending on if it would be at club pace or race pace? Mark...sounds good as well. If you say the roads are ok, based on me feeling ok after the Don Smith, I'm hoping I could squeeze some more miles out?
  10. Great day indeed. Great company. It was my first for: Getting above 50miles this year Riding in a group that large Going out with the club pace bunch oh...and first time up Haylie Brae Had a great time...even the Haylie Bailed out at Kilbirnie as I had car shopping duties to attend to, but after the ride in with Mark O this morning I was up to the same miles. Looking forward to the next run Cheers And a big thanks to Martin
  11. Mark, Ok mate, sounds fine. Like you say, I can see how I feel after the Haylie. I would go onto the cycle path at the Glengarnock/Longbar industrial estate. I take it you would join it just along from where I do?
  12. Thanks guys. I did the Moscow reliability with the early group and it was fine. When the club pace group caught us I found that fine as well. Can't remember if we were keeping at the club pace but a couple of the chaps were kind enough to tell me that I'd be fine on future runs with the middle group. I guess I'm just wondering if it doesn't go well, will I be on my own etc.
  13. Out of curiousity..and this being my first Don Smith...although I'm going with the 9.30am 'club pace', does it end up being a few different groups within that 9.30 start group? Some at the usual club pace, some slower, but not at the 10am pace etc? Thanks
  14. Hi Mark, Sounds like a plan. Will that give us enough time to get there at a leisurely pace? Don't want you to burn me out before the main run Will you be stopping at Kilbirnie on the way home or heading all the way to the clubrooms? How many extra miles would that be? I ask because the 55miles will be a PB for me so far this year. My mobile is 07771 981395 is you need it. Cheers
  15. I'll give the 9.30 group a go. Want to have my first run up Haylie Brae
  16. I'll be there. I've taken the weekend off for a ride Will all club members be doing this instead of the usual club run? Just have to pick a distance!
  17. I was really looking forward to this run as Helensburgh is part of 'my patch' but can't get the day off because of the footy. Actually at the game, otherwise I'd have been there to cheer you up Sinclair Street Enjoy
  18. Sounds good Ben. eBay can be weird with people getting carried away and they ending up saving a couple of quid. New build sounds good although should that Dura Ace not be Campag? Only way to go surely?!
  19. After the run on Sunday I tried on a jersey and ultra packable in large. I'm 6ft with about a 40" chest and the tops seemed fine. Guess it depends in how loose you want them. Should've tried an extra large for comparison. I've got a 32" waist but I've been told a medium short (33-35") would be better for leg length.
  20. Hi, Can I please order: 1 x s/s jersey size large 1 x bibshorts size medium Thanks
  21. Had a great day today on my first club run. Nearly didn't leave the house because of the weather but very glad I did. Great company and it reminded me how good it was to ride in a group. Thanks for making me feel welcome Unfortunately work won't let me out for the next 3 weekends but 'should' get 3 in a row next month. Maybe venture out with the 9.30 group!
  22. No worries Ian. Plan to head out with the first group so I'll just come prepared! Cheers
  23. Hi, Meant to ask if the clubrooms are open in the morning? Won't be at my own house tonight so have to take all my stuff with me and drive there in the morning. Just so I know to arrive dressed! Thanks
  24. Another one for the first group on my first club run
  25. Thanks Martin, I won't feel so bad then if I get a jersey and ultra packable just now and shorts at a later date. Are the kit orders far apart? Is the ultra packable a good piece of kit? I was going to buy a plain Altura one I'd seen. Something to keep the chill off a Pyreenean descent?
