  1. I cannot do this weekend either...but back for the next one.
  2. Thanks for that and certainly would be of great interest for the book. The ones that raced for Scotland/Great Britian could be another chapter (not sure how many we are talking about...I know of three off the top of my head However, these individuals may also feature in the top 6 greats. Where do you live? Cheers Grant
  3. Sorry mate....I am down south. Cheers Grant
  4. As some of you know Willie Cosh and myself have been asked to head up the delivery of the book for our centenary year. Even though this is not until 2026, this is a project that should be given plenty of time to produce an outstanding product. To this end, we are keen to hear from individuals who would be keen to help. We would gratefully appreciate help in the following areas: 1. Writing a chapter on an era of the club. 2. Thoughts and a chapter on the future of the club. 3. Discussion/debate on the top six clubs greats. 4.Writing a chapter on the technical side of the bikes (i.e. changes over the years). 5. Artistic content - whether it be cartoons or poetry 6. Compile a sporting roll of honour. 7. Compile full list of members, old and new throughout the world. 8. We have tons of photos and need some help in sorting these out. 9. A wee comp to design the best front cover. This to be judged by a panel. If anyone is interested in helping with the above, please drop either myself or Willie a quick note.
  5. It was certainly a cracking day out. Brilliant weather and superb company....we certainly need to do this again. Cheers Grant
  6. Jan/Mary, Just spoke to Willie...he will meet us down at the ferry for 10:30am. Cheers Grant
  7. Hey Jan, Cool...let me know the finer details of what is what and will give Willie a call. Cheers Grant
  8. Hi Jan, I think Mary is meeting you tonight...we think it would be better to get the 10:30am ferry as we do not want to hanging around too long before the rest of the troops arrive. Let me know what is what and I will inform Willie. Cheers Grant
  9. Hi Mary, I am up for cycling down to the ferry and doing the first one. Would do the usual and meet you at Bishopton...just let me know what time suits. Cheers Grant
  10. Mary....no probs..I suppose going there and back the same route still gives us 50 miles. The only thing I was thinking was allowing us to do a wee loop...cheers Jan..sorry for some reason I cannot open your links for mapmyride...I think you need to enter the longer link near the top of the page to allow joe blogs to look at it...cheers
  11. The proposed route was just a starter for ten. We can always do the route in reverse and do the 30ish miles before the cafe stop. Ramsay...will you be going the shorter route back the ferry once finished at the cafe. Davie...thanks for the tip about the tickets. I am certainly open to suggestions. Cheers Grant
  12. Further to Ramsay's post about us meeting up for a bit to eat at Strachur...I have compiled a possible route for the medium group using Mapmyride...see the link below: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-ki ... 8772057786 (ignore the mis-spelling of Dunoon...he he). If this is okay with all, I propose we meet at the clubhouse say 9ish and drive down to Gourock and get the ferry across to Dunoon on either the 9:30 or 10am. I have a spare cycle rack on my car and from memory Willie has a spare 2. It is about 25 miles from the ferry to Strachur so we could easily be up there for lunch. Looking at the Western Ferries web-site it would be £7.20pp return with the bikes going free What do you think? Cheers Grant
  13. Hi Ramsay, Does your wife not fancy joining up with the medium group? Cheers Grant
  14. Good man Willie...any ideas of a good route for us? Cheers Grant
  15. Brill Jan. Now that is our little bunch upto 3...who else fancies the medium group? Cheers Grant
  16. Hi Jan, Great to see you out and good will power to keep going. Hope you will join Mary, I and whoever can come along next Sunday. What cycling computer do you have? Cheers Grant
  17. What a great day. The weather was in our favour apart from the wind between Neilston and Dunlop. About 8 people started from the clubhouse, with people swinging back due to other commitments. All and all a brill day with final mileage of 60 miles. Hope some of these people manage the trip next Sunday cross the water. Cheers Grant
  18. HI Mary, I would up for that as long as it was the 23rd so can bring the new bike. Cheers Grant
  19. Hi Ramsay, Yeah I am up for it as long as there is more than just the fast group. Cheers Grant
  20. Hi Willie, Brilliant...look forward to it...cheers
  21. Hi Fiona, See the link that is part of my original posting. This directs you to MapMy Ride. You are more than welcome and don't worry to can do as much or little as you want. Jan, I would be great to see you there. Cheers Grant
  22. Myself and Mary Ashworth are planning to leave the clubhouse at 9am and heading out towards Moscow and back. The run is approx 54 miles http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-ki ... 5734322718 It would be great if we can get a wee bunch on this route. Cheers Grant
