  2. hi, i'm for the 9am start. lets hope i can keep up this week or i'll be forming an 8.30 group al.
  3. hi, i'm new to the club (only been on 1 run so far but luved it ) so i'm dead keen and will be there tomorrow morning. when will a decision be made re weather, tonight or tomorrow morning? will i just keep tabs on this tread? ta al.
  4. al (and simon for the pm), i fitted muddies to the Dynatech about 3 months ago. held with tape and cable ties. they are pretty secure and holding okay. alan - funnily enough i've decided to build a freewheel single, using an old Peugeot frame though not the Dynatech. all the bits are now ordered from BBJ, so it means the old Dynatech is going to have to stay as it is, as the old piggie bank is now empty simon- thanks for offer of bits, but unless Santa brings me a wad of cash, instead of the usual socks , i'll need to pass this time. if i like the Peugeot single, then i might put the Dynatech up for sale. if its worth anything that is? thanks again for your help/advice guys much appreciated al.
  5. I have an old Raleigh Dynatech 700 with Shimano 600 kit on it. I bought this last year and was told it was the dogs b----x bike in its day. This is my winter bike and I am wondering if it's worth upgrading with STI Levers, etc or would I be better selling and buying a secondhand newer bike? Is the old Raleigh worth saving or should I just Ta, Al.
  6. colin i don't think the spacer set will work as, once i'd stripped the rear cassette, the back wheel has nowhere to put them on. simon, i like the idea of just putting the chain onto 1 sprocket and trying this until you decide if a fixie is what you want. i could be sorted now without spending dosh big thanks guys. al.

  8. If you haven't got a pair yet let me know. I have a pair from a cheap Mountain bike that have hardly been used. Would be glad to give to a good home for free. Ta, Al.
  9. Decided to convert an old bike into a fixed wheel for some winter training and to learn a bit more about how these 2 wheeled things work. Stripped the bike and once I stripped the rear cassette off realised the chain alignment will never work with the current rear wheel. Been to BBJ and he was so helpful, but I don't want to break the bank buying new bits for a v old frame, etc. Anyway here's what I think I need....oh any help/advice would be greatly received as I'm a newie to this 2 wheeled stuff. 1 set of wheels that will allow spacer set to work or even better Track wheels or at the very least a rear wheel. 1 bottom bracket (the old bike had square taper thingy...see told you I'm new to this ), cranks and 48 chainring. 1 18 tooth back sprocket. 1 seatpost (old one in a terrible state). 1 set Look pedals, not the current clip system but the older one. The wife has allowed me a small budget so any help/offers of bits will be gladly received and paid for. Big thanks, Al.
