  1. Kenny, Have you considered Mallorca. Two years ago I hired a Giant quality road bike whilst holidaying in Port de Pollensa. If I remember, it cost me 100 euro for seven days rental, all you need are your pedals and shoes. The company is called Procycle Hire and is owned by a very friendly English couple. You can find out more by visiting their web site at www.procyclehire.com have a word with Dennis as he used them earlier this year. Regards, Alan
  2. I joined up with Aileen and Dennis for a steady hurl down to Gourock for a cafe stop, Dennis, the toasties did look scrumptious however i have been eating all the pies recently so gave them a miss. As I was pushed for time I had to say my goodbyes and leave early, not that this helped as I punctured at Langbank, not me, the rear tyre! Thank you both for a pleasant run and look forward to repeating it soon. Best regards, Slow Al
  3. The famous five set out from BBJ at 9.27 am heading for Largs via Kilbirnie, the five being Ian, John, Dave, Alistair and Slow Al whom struggled a bit on the hills. However I dug deep and kept going, as Ian kept whispering in my lug of the joys of the cafe stop with stories of scrumsous rolls and square slice covered in broon sauce ! Once revitalised it was onwards and upwards via Brisbane Glen, a doddle, doon to the port, back through Bishopton and along the well laid Georgetown Road. Thanks guys for a great 60 miles in the saddle, sorry will not be out next Sunday as I have to go to a wedding, no not mine !
  4. Hi Ian - hope to be out to play at last , Al

    Aldi

Some good cycling gear on sale as of Thursday, well worth a look. www.aldi-stores.co.uk Stookie off in two weeks then on the bike again at long last, can't wait for a 30 miler jaunt. Al
  6. Hi Ian, Will not make it out this Sunday, I slipped on front door tiles and damaged the old war wound - right humerous - so in a sling for next three weeks. Just when I was getting that bit fitter too - bogger it !!! Hope to be out again soon Al
  7. Thanks Ian, enjoyed our wee run out to Kilbirnie and back. My first time out in a few weeks so breaking in gently to more serious miles. Hopefully see you next week. Regards, Alan
  8. Enjoyed last week so much, plan to be there again on Saturday. Kenny, if I keep this up I will have no other option than to become an offical paid up member. See you all again on Saturday
  9. As a recovered fracture victim from January, on reading this thread I think I will be keeping the heid doon and staying put in the garage cruising on the turbo. Seems the safer option ! Hope Kenny and Ian mend well and are soon out and about with the 30 miler brigade Turkeys are not just for X-mas Slow Al
  10. Kenny - Really enjoyed last week but unfortunately will miss this week due to babysitting duties. Rather dissapointed as I have been training in Ireland all week on Ulster fries and the porter. At least I know I'm doing my bit to keep the group on the large side. Nae mair hills ! Slow Al
  11. Hi Greig - You can buy a spoke spanner for a few bob, however it may be wiser to let Dooleys service the wheel to ensure it is true. This will cost less than a tenner. Hope this helps, Alan
  12. As I am particularily slow going uphill, I plan to leave 15 minutes earlier than the bunch and hopefully be at the top of the hill just before the gang. See you all tomorrow weather permiting Alan
  13. All being well and no hangover I plan to be there for nine just as long as you all wait for me at the Bowfield. Hills are a killer ! Alan
  14. Just a few lines to express my thanks for a great morning's cycle. The group of nine all did the route out by Gateside and Greenacres. Being a glutton for punishment, four of us continued out to Kilmacolm and back to Houston, just over 40 miles. Looking forward to next Sunday already. Many thanks, Slow Al
  15. Great site Alan, I posted the hole on Barochan Road just after the tight bend before Fulton Drive last Thursday. Passed today and it has been filled. Surprise surprise !
