  1. Oooooofffftttt! What more is there to say????? Our World Time Trial Champion - Duncan with a full 54 points Ramsay gets silver with 36 points. Paul and I share bronze with 28 points. Some interesting changes to our overall: 1st Duncan 339 points (up 2 places) 2nd Paul 318 points 3rd Richie 306 points (down 2 places) 4th Me 287 points (up 1 place) 5th Jann 265 points (down 1 place no entry ) 6th Ramsay 258 points (up 1 place) 7th Richard 253 points (down 1 place no entry ) 8th Alan 217 points (up 2 places) 9th Billy 216 points (down 1 place) 10th Tom 196 points (down 1 place no entry ) 11th Kenny 161 points 12th Greig 160 points 13th Davie 152 points Big losers on the day - Jann, Richard and Tom with no entry submitted Remember all the Road race is this coming Sunday and predictions required by 2359 on Saturday night. Colin
  2. Worlds Men's TT: 1st Martin 2nd Cancellara 3rd Wiggins Obvious choices probably going to be picked by most- but in what order???? Did I hear talk of a Worlds trade team TTT to be introduced for next year? Colin
  3. Winner of the TOB TT - Ramsay with 11 points (9 for Boom and 2 for Dowsett) 2nd Me with 9 for Boom in 2nd Joint 3rd Paul, Duncan and Jann with 4 points. Winner of the overall TOB - Jann with 12 points (2 for Boom and 10 for Cav winning 2 stages) Joint 2nd Paul, Duncan and Tom with 10 points for Cavs 2 wins. Nobody else scored Overall following TOB: 1st Richie 300 2nd Paul 290 3rd Duncan 285 4th Jann 265 (up 2 places) 5th Me 259 (up 1 place) 6th Richard 253 (down 2 places) 7th Ramsay 222 (up 1 place) 8th Billy 212 (down 1 place) 9th Tom 196 (up 1 place) 10th Alan 193 (down 1 place) 11th Kenny 161 12th Greig 160 13th Davie 152 Looks like Paul and Duncan are joining forces on the run in to the finish to catch Richie. Janns steady rise is continuing with promotion to 4th. Kenny ,Greig and Davie all seem to be warming their cockles in the broom wagon. Colin.
  4. Cheers Richard, If that is the case I will replace De Gent with Rodgers. Colin
  5. TOB TT: 1st Thomas 2nd Boom 3rd De Gent Colin
  6. Richie, Them's the breaks I'm affraid. The race had started. If the stage had been scrubbed prior to the race start then I would rule differently. I could lay claim to a right to change my selection of millar as there was no prior mention that he had pulled out Colin
  7. Duncan, Anymore Wiggins whing'in and I'll dock you 108 points This is a good oppertunity for everybody to have a chance at getting back in the hunt (or it could kill off the competition altogether if Richie keeps up his form) and may even entice squire Christie into attempting a Vino style comeback Colin
  8. With the World Championships due from the 19th September I thought I woul# give you all a wee reminder about predictions. You will need to predict the top 3 in both the men's TT and the men's road race. As a wee incentive I will award double points for both races if anyone predicts accurately the top 3 placings That would mean 54 points on offer for each race and if anybody is jammy enough a total of 108 points for both races. I would again emphasise that your predictions must have all riders in the correct order to qualify for the bonus points. Colin
  9. Just for clarity I feel I have to inform all of some attempted knobbling of our respectable wee competition A certain member of our number contacted me last night claiming an additional 10 points should be added to their score for Wiggins coming in third. Having checked back this deviant did indeed give 3rd place as their prediction for Wiggins, however Wiggins was not selected in 3rd place for their GC predictions. I have passed a ruling that points will not be added due to Wiggins not appearing in the GC predictions and trust that all (except the offender of course) find this fair and reasonable I know that the guilty party feels that this was a masterful stroke of genious on their part and will no doubt be most upset Colin
  10. Ian, that's the bonty tyres I was thinking about. As for brake clearance, some adjustment may be needed if you go for wider tyres than you normally use. Some tyres claiming to be 23's may have slightly fatter side walls as well. Youll just need to get them and try. If your tyres flat you will always get it in/out. Just a pain if you fix a flat put the wheel in, pump it up and discover you have pinched it Colin
  11. I have found the skins to be a great tyre, but you MUST make sure they are inflated to the full pressure. As for being a pain to get on I think it just depends on your tyre/rim combination. I can get mine on with my hands only (maybe Billy just needs to man up ) Another good winter tyre is the Bontrager (can't remember the name) and I only changed to the skins as the shop I was in didn't have the bontys. Not the best rolling tyres but bombproof. Colin
  12. Very clever marketing wind up me thinks!?!?!? Can anybody translate what the UCI guy is saying? Colin
  13. Well that's my TOB predictions screwed!!! Millar not racing cause he had a baby last week (what, did he give birth himself?!?!) and Voigt crashes out on stage 1
  14. At last the Vuelta is over. Is it just me or did that race seem to go on forever? Never mind, it was yet another outstanding race. So our winner of the Vuelta is: Paul with 12 points.(10 for Moncoutie as KOM and 2 for Wiggins in top 3). 2nd was Duncan with 10 points (Geox as top team). Greig would have been 3rd (Wiggins in 3rd place would have been 6 points) but with a late entry he suffers a 5 point deduction from his GC selection Overall: 1st Richie 298 2nd Paul 276 3rd Duncan 271 4th Richard 251 (up 1 place) 5th Me 250 (down 1 place) 6th Jann 249 7th Billy 212 8th Ramsay 211 9th Alan 193 10th Tom 184 11th Kenny 161 12th Greig 160 13th Davie 152 Colin

Was that you looking out the back window then Greg? Glad you didn't mention how slowly I was going
  19. Right people, Tour of Britain starts this weekend and Cav is apparently riding. Predictions required for top 3 overall and top 3 for final days TT. Final day TT not required till the day before. In recognition of Cav's participation additional 10 points will be awarded for accurate predictions of how many stages he will win. Colin
  20. Kenny, Position looks pretty sorted to me. Every time I have saw you your head is up and the tail of your helmet makes a nice line with your back. Lowering your position could put a strain on your shoulders and neck resulting in you having to look down which will ruin that nice line. I think bigger gains will come for you through specific training on the lead up to next season. If you do decide to try and get lower remember: Record your current position so you can go back to it if things don't work; Move your position in small increments and try each setting for a while before changing again. Of course I could just be talking a load of old tosh Colin
  21. Superb rides by all Big congratulations to Mike, dipping under 23 and looking good on that new bike There were plenty of paps out last night so there should be pics aplenty. My wee camera struggled with the failing light so I tried some experimental shots under the first bridge on the way out. Unfortunately I was still faffing about with shutter speeds when Mike and Ian came by and the results wern't perfect. Then while checking back through the pics Ben flashed by too quickly for me to get focused on him. Got in car and sped to the layby about half way back on the return leg and got a shot of sorts (sorry big man if the flash blinded you for a bit ). Pics I did get below and in next message:
