  1. Kenny Thanks for the link to LIDI, I went down there yesterday and bought a bicycle tool kit with everything in it a bargain at £14.99 excellent I asked about the carbon disc wheels while I was there and was told that they will be on sale from Friday of this week. They are made by a Japanese company Marumi who have specialised in "polar foil" technology and have recently moved into carbon fibre technology, see link to website. http://www.marumi-filter.co.jp/internat ... polar.html They expect a very high demand for these and as supply is very limited I would advise anyone who is interested to get there early. I for one will be waiting on them opening David ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Stevie George Bowie was true to his word and gave all the Johnstone Wheelers who were at the dinner on Friday night a mention. The donkey story is true but I deny all knowledge about mother in laws being involved. The names have been changed to protect the inocent For those who missed it I was at the local garage and was going to put my car through the car wash. As my car had a roof ariel I put it down as I got into the car so it would not get damaged in the car wash. I got back in the car and my mother in law asked what that noise was. I said it was me sorting the ariel on the roof before I drive through the car wash. Ah she say's have you got to bring your own soap powder Your A donkey ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computer needs, spares & repairs - PC Express, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  5. While hosteling is good fun and I am sure we would all enjoy it, when taken into perspective the deal that Dougie got at the Auchrannie Hotel with all the pampering, swimming, sauna etc was fantastic value for money. Work out what it cost each of us and I recon Hotel ,food, drink and ferry fares came to less than £100 for the weekend. Thats £2 per week if we start saving up now for next year. Our athletic bodies need to recover from the punishment we put them through in our quest for ah whatever the bar is open in the hotel when you want it Worth thinking about I would love to go hosteling with the bunch as well as keeping the Arran weekend in it's current hotel based format as an end of season treat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computing needs, new machines, spares & repairs - the Yellow Computer Shop, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. Dead right Arran was a great weekend , my only concern about next year is that there is enough white bread to go round for ear plugs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For all your computing needs, new machines, spares & repairs - the Yellow Computer Shop, Love Street, Paisley 0141-561-0323 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  7. Paul Turkey is one of my favourite places and Marmaris is great, look out for the Fountain bar right on the beach . Regarding cycling Turkish drivers are mad in the towns there are no rules, I have not hired a car for this reason on any of the trips I have had to Turkey The hills above Marmaris are beautiful but there have been a number of bad crashes over the years mainly involving coaches with tourist coming from Dalyan airport. For any real mileage you have to leave the Marmaris bay area and head up into the hills, how safe this is I don't know
  8. Caledonian Mac-Nae-Brains Dougie Due to the fact that I have been accused recently of being chronologically challenged , Messers Simpson, Hickey and Manson take note, Millport is but a memory. I will be at the clubrooms BEFORE the designated time, with my shoes and all other essential equipment. Regarding the £40 quid I think that you have done enough and you don't need to give us money as well, but if you insist David

  11. Hi All Tomorrow I am off to France to take part in Etape du Tour, I would like to thank everyone in the club for their help and support over the last 9 months. Had it not been for the Sunday runs with all the advice and encouragement I received I would not feel as fit and confident as I do. I am heading down through Le Mans and taking in stage 8 on Friday before heading over to Limoges and the main event on Sunday. Later in the week I am going over to Alpe D'Huez just for a look if Joyce is reading this but if my bike should need the excercise I might let it have a go. Sorry I can't be with you all when you get to the Alpe but I know you will all have a great time I will be wearing the club colours during Etape so at least Scotland's friendliest club will be represented. Full report when I return Thanks again to everyone. All the best David
  12. Kenny, I'll try to make it on Sunday, do you want us to bring bikes?
  13. I had also heard that Ryanair were charging £15 each way for bikes so on a Ryanair return flight from Barcelona to Prestwick I noticed a group of irate women golfers who were all checking in large hard shelled golf club transport cases. I asked if they had been charged extra for these cases and was told that they had to pay £15 each way, they were not chuffed. It does appear that Ryanair are charging for extra luggage but they are being consistant in charging everyone not just a bunch of paranoid cyclists. Regards David
  14. This Friday or any other Friday is usually okay for me, do we need to wear club colours for this ? David
