  2. Report from Balfron - the bits that I know. 2 seperate races on the day. Over 40's 1 - Chris Thompson 2 - Ali Watt 3 - Graham Cockburn 4- Me Bunch including J Daly finished a minute or two back. I got in a break of 5 early doors which stayed away till the end losing one with about 20 to go. From 15 to go I knew I was riding for 4th as the other 3 were significantly stronger and it was an uphill finish. However, better to bury yourself and get 4th rather than go back through the bunch like a dose of proverbial salts !! Over 50's and ladies 1 - Graham Barclay 2 - Lady from Edinburgh 3 - Davy Lang PMcD
  3. Sounds good Alan - would join you but I am racing at Balfron tomorrow next time PMcD
  4. Just to mention I plan to take my daughter to the Bellahouston Youth crit on Saturday in case anyone else is going or might be interested. cheers PMcD
  5. Darryl Thank you very much for your best wishes, I've only just read this as I was in Inverness from dawn till dusk yesterday at a rowing regatta then travelled to Aberdeen last night. Anyway, Jim and I made the annual pilgramage to the vets champs (I'm sure you would have done a great ride today so maybe you could reconvene next year?) Realistically for me, the best scenario was a bunch sprint. However it was very windy and the bunch split to pieces early on. If I'm honest I was ready to get off my bike and reassess my life after 15 miles as my legs were in agony after trying to hold the lead break and was dropped. End of the day I was 12th - so after a rest in October (which is my plan and will be a first !) it all starts again for next year ! Jim was one of the gladiators that managed to finish the race, from what I know he was 29th. cheers PMcD
  6. Thanks Stevie, I could get used to the deep heat training ! What a place, heaven on earth for 2 weeks in the summer. The heat is too deep after 10am mind you. PMcD
  7. Message for Liam My sources tell me that you plan to go up to Crieff for the TLI race. Give me a phone if you want to team up for travel. I will be leaving about 8.15am from Lochwinnoch. 01505 843836 cheers PMcD
  8. Good luck at the next Super6. I'm away on holiday the next 2 weeks but have entered the East Kilbride race for 2,3,4 cats on the 20th July if anyone else is thinking of it. adios
  9. Thanks Darryl. For any other readers - what about option of 8am ? for similar take it as you go run ? Cheery banana (Cheery because I go on holiday , along with carbon friend next Thursday )
  10. Any takers for 60 miles or so at 1.30pm Howwood on Sunday ? Route = follow or noses or depends on the position of stars or something else.
  11. Eaglesham was certainly not dry - obviously because it was not a TLI race. Some very high quality photo's on the BCF web site - however you'll get wet just looking at them ! Still drying out PMcD
  12. Glad youse all had a good day out at Millport - I'm guessing you got pretty wet similar to those riding at Eaglesham. The Masters race this year had riders from Portsmouth, Derby, "Callum Gough" zone and various other over border places ! Was pretty agressive on first 18 mile lap with numerous attacks and breaks forming but none lasting more than a mile or two. Lap 2 the field blew apart then came together but 5 escaped in a break. This stayed away till the end. Back in the bunch the attacks and reforms continued through lap 3 and right up till the last 2 mile drag. There were maybe 20 or so left in the bunch. When the sprint up the hill started my legs stopped and I came in at the tail of the bunch. Brilliant race again won by Brian Pool. Only other results I know at this stage as I headed off sharp to Ayr was John Kermode 6th (1st from bunch), Chris Thompson 7th and Steve McEwen (back from Holland for 2 days) just behind me with similar leg seizure problems ! PMcD
  13. Strange events at PMcD's house yesterday when on 2 seperate occasions "Cycle Race" signs appeared at different places in his garden. Police enquiries are on going as there is concern that they vaporised from Star Ship Enterprise. Tony Carrigan is one suspect whilst another is Jim Daly. Thanks guys PMcD
  14. A magnificent day for the joys of the Ayrshire muur's. Never thought I'd say this but actually too hot for the steeper ones Much liquid consumed and clearly Ramsay and Darryl are reaping the fruits of the Gleniffer Brae APRs as they stomped on with it. Let the sun shine ! PMcD
  15. Wal, outstanding Well done PMcD
  16. 1.30pm in Howwood centre then up Bowfield over to Stewarton etc. Be good to see any of the other potentials! PMcD
  17. Just to mention I plan to do 60/70 miles or so 1.30pm Sat - something like Galston transmitter for those who have had the dubious pleasure Let me know if it might suit you too PMcD
  18. Liam Thank you for the offer but the race was actually last Saturday.. maybe not too clear in all the posts ... so maybe next year. cheers PMcD
  19. I've had many great days on a bike but those few hours this morning were just about as good as it gets. Comaprable to anywhere in the world on a quiet Sunday morning on the back roads. If only Scotland could get this weather consistently..................... but then everyone would be here !! Thanks for suggesting it Alan - and all the best to Alan and Duncan at the Grand Fondo next week PMcD
  20. Tony Only just read this No hurry for the said items but if you are down this way some time then I'll meet up with you to get them. Thanks for collecting them. PMcD

  22. Alan Sounds like some serious climbing I may join you for an hour or two from Scotlind Gym - shredded legs permitting, I'm tied up later in the morning. cheers PMcD
  23. Many thanks for your help today - you did the club proud. Excellent weather again - results posted on Braveheart site. Marshalls - Darryl McG, Marco, Frank, Greg, Mike, Tony, Jim D, Greg & Ramsay Alan for doing his lead driver for first time - and various other duties Claire - McG's missus, for the banana cake which disappeared rapidly Debbie - my missus, for the sandwiches which also zapped away Mr O Ranter and his missus for continued support Sorry if I missed anyone, so many appeared on the day. ps - Anyone got a yellow sign that was posted at the corner (last one before finish) Jim Daly was stationed at? - it wasn't there when I went to get it in the afternoon. Well done guys, lots of positive comment back at the strip. Special wee thanks to Mike (I think) who rescued my 13 year old daughter when she punctured down the hill at Howwood on her way home. I owe you a tube ! PMcD
