  1. Round the coast sounds good to me. Fairly early start also sounds good. I second what Darryl said about the more the merrier for a curry. Usually at Indian for 7.30 and scoffing for 8. Please join us. Looking forward to it already. PMcD
  2. Good to see the numbers up. A suggestion for routes - dunoon tignabruich etc. if good weather forecast - sorn muirkirk to the pub with the toasties and soup we frequented last year other suggestions? PMcD
  3. I'll second that - best part of the day and practically no traffic. PMcD
  4. Alan, I may join you for an hour or two if i am capable after todays gubbing. Do you plan to take the top road from kilmalcolm to lochwinnoch - I would just ride along to meet you. ciao PMcD
  5. Well guys, the only preference seems to be Darryls suggestion for Saturday. So here is a plan - which can of course be modified... Sat 29th Nov Sat. morning - early start say 9am for at least 70 miles of 'workmanlike' riding. Tignabruich? Sorn-Galston ? Loch Tarzan even ? Then, after recovery in the afternoon for a few hours - a rehydration aperitif and large Indian buffet on Saturday night. Any advance entries - all welcome for ride part or rehydration part or eating part or all parts. cheers PMcD
  6. Alan Congrats on the running - your just a hyper fit super being. R Bogs is good for winter runs - but very sore as a 'comeback' run, as I discovered to my distress earlier. Anyway it only gets better from here. I had to get back on the bike earlier to get a rest - intensive DIY is worse than training Darryl & Jim looking smooth - they're fit chappies cheers PMcD
  7. Well Alan, following a judicial review it was decided that the intent was to have 8 weeks a, as opposed to 2 months off the bike. The last time I turned a pedal (literally) was at the race in Humbie which will be 7 weeks and 6 days come Saturday. Not that I was counting Hope to see you Sat. PMcD

Anyone interested in a curry night before Christmas ? Show of hands for either Fri 28th or Sat 29th Nov. at Indian up the road from Dooleys ? Say preferred date and we'll take it from there. PMcD
  10. I can do 29th / 30th - if there is not as much interest as previous years how about a curry night on 28th or 29th with a very long ride (Dunoon peninsula) the day before or after? PMcD btw - Anyone know if the Renfrew bunch whose honourable members convene at the public convenience of a Saturday morn is happening yet - I'm planning to partake from next week. Or in plain language is the renfra bogs bunch dooin the biz yet?
  11. Groupset and wheels sold. Right first time Alan, I have a new build project over the winter as I sold my Giant TCR as well. I now have a Scott CR1 waiting to get lots of tasty bits on it. Of course this process will require intensive research and deliberating cheers PMcD
  12. The answer is No, but it will be will be yes, yes and yes from 14th Nov. This taking a break lark does have some plus points, like scoring more brownie points than the stock market has lost in the past 4 weeks. And Chocolate. And chips. PMcD

  17. Has anyone used the Sram double tap shift levers ? I'm thinking of getting an Sram groupset but my one reservation is the lack of trim on the front shifter. So I wondered if anyone had used one and what their experience was. Thanks PMcD

  20. Yip, up for this as usual. I think the weekend that worked best for all the regulars in the past few years has been 2nd or 3rd weekend in November. Anyway I am keen but cannot do the 8th/9th option, will be along if its any other date. cheers
  21. Have a good one those that venture to Rothesay. I'm won't be going as I am now off the bike for 2 months to try and get rid of some health problems. I'm already counting the days to mid November On subject of November is anyone up for the traditional 3rd weekend trip to some exotic location ? Oban, Wanlockhead, Arran, ? PMcD
  22. Strong field at this event today with JWCC represented by myself and Alan. The back end of the course was saw tooth in profile with repeated 17% climbs, those that finished deserved a medal. Not sure of his position but Alan put in an excellent performance and finished well up. I was agressive in the opening 25 miles and paid for at the top of the big climb when I blew completely and had to lie in the grass at the side of the road for 10 minutes At least it was an excellent run back downhill in the sunshine. Well done again Alan PMcD
  23. Well done Alan - great to hear your rounding out the season on a high note. Plenty time to make a cunning plan for next year ! cheers PMcD
  24. Howde Alan, May go to Rothesay on 21st, I'll be in touch if so. I've entered the race at Gilford on 14th Sep, not racing next weekend. Can't make crit on 13th Sep. See you at some point! PMcD
