  2. For me the longer route would be preference, stuff Simon!!!!(only kidding). The bags are an issue, unles you guyds want to be soooo kind and humph them with you?!!!,kidding again. Anyone else have an opinion cos it's looking like the short trip over so far/.
  3. You better watch out we don't kidnap you like that poor wee lassie in Austria and lock you up for the weekend in the youthie and force you to eat good food and drink lots of alchohol and make you ride your bike in a terrible state!!!! We are evil.
  4. Wey Hey,this is starting to look like a classic!!!!!
  5. I will go too that weekend. Also up for the long route. I can take my rucky on my back and fill it with Parma ham and olives in the forward supply shop. Seeing as its a coop can we no get chicken in it too!!!!!
  6. Good thinkin that man!! I loved that a few years ago when we were pushed into it.
  7. Right. STOAP THE BOAT! .SHOCKEROONY I called the hotel tonight to make the reservation and was told that no rooms are available for either weekend and the policy has now changed to minimum 2 nights stay, bummer. SO,it looks like the bunkhouse this year lads,on the 7th October . Could Simon put some thoughts together regarding food transportation and any othe rminor items like DRINK!! .? Kenny as for a definitive post, somehoiw I dont think this one will be it mate.
  8. No problemo me amigos. Looking forward to a wee munch o' the curry gear and some two wheeled chat. pity Mulhooligan can't make it,we will just have to eat his share!!
  9. On my way to work this morning on my bike I was going over the Millenium Bridge at the Clyde next to the Crown Plaza Hotel and a lot of the big squads were out checking over their bikes and kit so I squeezed through the barrier and had a good old wander around, speaking to various folk and checking out the bikes, carbon galore!!. It was impressive and no-one minded a bit, maybe co's I was on my good bike and dressed in all my posh Assos gear !!.I even got chatting to the Race Director,a thoroughly nice slim chap who asked how I was getting on and even asked what I had been doing recently,!!...Eh?,you ask, what you going on about?..It was Brian Smith,Honorary Member of our club.Good on him and watch out for him on the telly in the coming days.
  10. Yes good luck Dave from me too. I think we only met once,at the West End curry night last year. Im sure the results you had in the Joansin's colours will certainly not be your last.As Dave says, always welcome back, why don't you try and arrange to come on one of our weekend trips next year?,cheers,Dougie.
  11. Ha good one Balamory. We are keeping this trip as before but you have stolen my thunder as I was gonna throw it in as a pre season trip next year to the folks on Arran. I was also gonna tell them that you were offering to buy all the beer!! And before anyone else pipes up....No,we are not going to Skegness!!!!!
  12. Excellent stuff and not before time. Pity about the other two pending court cases you are still involved in !! The one where you stand accused of murdering some Johnny Cash songs and the one where he is accused of impersonating Simon Simpson !! Im sure your very worried if word of these get out to the public?. Curry I hear you say Kenny boy?. Can we have a show of hands for this Friday?,I can manage, will give ma a good meal in me before Cumberland Challenge on Sunday.
  13. Yes it's true what they say"there's always one"!! Sorry can't find an answer in my Trivial Pursuits cards for that one Paul!! I guess that your date is not the most popular at the moment mate?.
  14. Ha,maybe so Simon, and I take your point on the price of Basil, but what about Cybil?!!,does she go too?... Anyway,by my reckoning a pair of trousers,a shirt and Speedo's weighs much less than all your food so guess where I fancy?!!!!!!!!! Folks,as Simon says majority rules, and please only Arran attendees vote, thanks.
  15. Steve, please refrain from informing us of your long holiday in OZ as the vision of you loungin' about in your Speedo's is making me feel really unwell!!! Your down for a defo for Arran anyway as your intellect raises our profile immensely on the island meaning we have someone to talk the proprieters out of getting us barred for good ,enjoy the rest of your hols.
  16. I am back on for the 7th/8th October. Myself and Simon are putting together two price options for the weekend, one for the hotel, one for hostel. Both have their own benefits. We will have a poll soon so if interested attending folks only could vote we will go with majority rules.Thanks.
  17. Bravo lassie.Your old Da' will be grinnin' like a Cheshire cat.
  18. Financial Advice!! He's the loan shark in the papers who charges a million per cent interest!!!!
  19. Ahh,Richie,he of matching club gear and Cannondale bike to boot!!!,a good lad and always supports our century ride, you could do worse than ride with those guys. Does John still wear his Versace cycling kit and Tom Boonen shoes co's he had them on 2 weeks ago and usually only wears things once as he thinks it's cheaper to buy new than to wash !!!!,cheers mate.
  20. Kenny they are probably next going to use the argument that we should all go and ride the fancy new racing track that gas been built at Bellahouston for us!!!,complete with kerbing. We will just ride the storm, because after all we are only enjoying a sport which is good for our general health and wellbeing. Not content with driving us off the roads they are trying to get us off the cycle tracks too.Unfortunately I think in a small way the negativity surrounding the Tour De france is allowing these people to jump on the bandwagon and kick us when were down. They are only looking for a new target seeing as the bigots which blight footie are diminishing a bit.
  21. Welcome Craig, good to see you found us.I know a few of the United guys and Im sure your in good hands, have you come across John McGrory yet?,he thinks he looks like Tom Cruise but in reality he is more like a cruise on the waverley doon the Clyde in winter!!. I will have a wee look at the site and if it doesn't clash I will come by,maybe bring a few others as I believe it is good to get clubs out together for the social side.Have a good holiday.
  22. If this proposed legislation is to be imposed, will they also make it law to have all motorists fit some kind of gadget that will whack the driver in the mouth when they drive too close to us cyclists and an in-car camera which records the amount of times they have close calls with us and when they exceed 1 incident they get fined?.Utter nonsense if you ask me,just more fiddling from an MP who probably is a member of the anti bike brigade.I can only see a bell being a benefit to pedestrians in parks as we should not be riding on pavements.
  23. Friday a wee bit too early for me too, sorry. When we talk about first weekend in October can I throw a spanner in the works and make it the one where September ends and October starts?,i.e. Saturday 30th and Sunday 1st?.
