Scott D
Hi, I'll be taking a carbon bike on the Mallorca trip in April. Can anyone advise if they use a cardboard bike box, what kind of packaging materials they use and whether its sufficient for the baggage handlers. I've usually taken a hardshell bikebox (scicon), but that wont be available to me this time. Cheers, Scott
Richie Cross
Hi Scott, When we went to Italy last year, a couple of the guys had their bikes covered in bubble wrap/pipe lagging and then in a box and they were fine. We had a mixture and all bikes arrived unscathed. I'm hiring a Bike Box Alan this time so I have a padded bag you can borrow. Google Tifosi XL if you want to check it out. Administrators Jannza Posted February 15, 2013 Administrators Report Share Posted February 15, 2013 I've used a cardboard box inside a bike bag. As above carefully packed with bubble wrap and pipe lagging. The bag just makes it easier to lift and move.
