Who's game? http://www.redbull.co.uk/cs/Satellite/e ... 2945687493 Red Bull Mini Drome 2011 SATURDAY 25 JUNE 2011 Qualifying time - 14:00 - 18:00 Main Event - 19:00 - 22:00 BARROWLAND BALLROOM, GLASGOW RED BULL INTRODUCES THE WORLD'S SMALLEST VELODROME TO THE UKFIXED GEAR SCENE On Saturday 25 June 2011, Red Bull Mini Drome will be coming to Barrowland Ballroon in Glasgow. For the first time in Scotland and the second time in the UK, Red Bull will be bringing the world's smallest velodrome to Glasgow to challenge fixed gear riders from across the country. The purpose built track has been engineered in Germany by Velotrack, the team who built the velodromes for the Atlanta Olympics and the Delhi Commonwealth Games. The Red Bull Mini Drome track will maintain race worthy dimensions in the smallest possible size to enable a single pursuit. Red Bull Mini Drome will challenge both body and mind as riders will need to navigate themselves around a unique and technically challenging course reaching speeds of up to 80 km/ph. Andy Ellis from Fixed Magazine was the first to test the track in Germany at the build last year. He said "I think you should expect an atmosphere not unlike the legendary six day races held at Madison Square Garden roughly 100 years ago. Red Bull have gone and executed this precisely how it should be done. It could be the beginning of something much more for the scene." The event will be open to all fixed gear riders of all ages. Barrowland Ballroom has a capacity for 600 people and is free to all public on a first come, first served basis. There is no entry fee, however, a donation to Glasgow Bike Shed or Wings for Life would be welcome. Qualifying is open to over a 100 competitors in a single timed race. Riders will be timed using The Velotrack Timing System. The racers with the quickest time across the 10 laps will progress through the competition to the finals which will be a single pursuit race format.
