Committee Alan McLean Posted January 4, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted January 4, 2009 Thanks Kenny. Mari bust a rear der, ran half a lap, found a new bike and STILL stuffed Martin and me. Top tip: if some of the riders are 20 year old whippets wearing "Olympic Development Squad" logos on their tracksuits then you know there are some serious ranking points up for grabs. Cool day but frost had lifted for my first cx race. The sprogs had raced earlier. Kenny Steele was mumbling something about an injury so only Martin and I were in the big race. Fantastic course round stirling uni campus complete with hurdle section through the beer tent and cheering ("jeering" surely?; Ed) spectators. The leaders were out of sight within seconds. I followed Martin who very kindly gave me racing tips that included two very realistic demonstrations of how to fall off a proper CX bike on the off camber greasy sections. Otherwise he would have beaten me by miles. I also took advantage of Martin's sportsmanship and nipped away from him when he let the leaders through on the final lap. JWCC outnumbered by the Jets. I'm sure we'll get a full report from them in due course. 2009 is four days and two races old. Great start. Alan

Committee Alan McLean Posted January 7, 2009 Committee Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 Here's a good shot of Martin on a slippy off camber corner just before demonstrating rear wheel slide and face plant combo. It's a great sport for photos, the riders just keep coming at you . http://www.flickr.com/photos/ta_photo/3 ... 193794107/
