2023 Subscriptions martin Posted November 27, 2008 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 27, 2008 Thanks to Kenny for the publicity report. Irvine was another great race. Didn't think Glenrothes could be bettered, but then I hadn't appreciated what wind, rain, sleet and sand might add to the experience. It was well attended too - the picture below will give you some idea of the scene. (Think I was just out of shot). The course had lots of variety: tar, hard core, swooping grassy descents, steep slopes, rideable stairs, get off and carry stairs. Oh, and the 3 or 4 hundred meters of sand dunes each lap was hard going, I have to say. Only had two laps put into me by the leaders, so clear improvement! Timed my finish well too, joining the leaders on the home straight. If I'd stayed 10 seconds in front of them it would have meant another lap.... . Rider of the day had to be Tony, though. He rode down from Kilwinning to Irvine - soaked and freezing even before the race started. And then he planned to ride home?!? There is no better bike sport than CX. Fact. Plean on Sunday, if I can get past the cold that I woke up with on Monday.

2023 Subscriptions martin Posted November 30, 2008 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted November 30, 2008 'tis true. Even after denying myself the delights of the curry night I didn't trap this week, due to a combination of still coughing up green frogs and the -4C temp at 10 this morning. Guess I haven't achieved the belgian hardman zenlike state yet. Worse still, given young mulhooligan the smit. Decided to save ourselves for the Scottish pie eating champs in Dundee next week (that is the event, isn't it?) Went out to play on the cross bike this afternoon when it had warmed up to -2. Frost on bare legs must be good for you.
