This will be the first post of a group outlining the club officials for 2004.

I am currently Club President for 2004 and my duties will be to oversee the day to day running of the club, I shall preside over comm. meetings ( with only a casting vote) , liase with sponsors, oversee maintenance of clubrooms , support all other comm. members and deal with membership problems.

I will fill in any other positions of comm. in times of illness or resignation (on a temporary basis). This is a rough outline of some of the duties I currently carry out and will continue to do so.

I can be contacted via the website or The bunch , and at regular Friday night club nights.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns / queries.

I am the Development Officer for the club. This is a fairly new post as far as I can tell, although the club committee has always done a very good taking care of members in the past.

I see this role as co-ordinating the development of current members, this may be through specialist Q&A sessions at the club rooms, liasing with SportsRenfrewshire and even provide coaching hints and tips. I will try to provide JWCC members with as much information and help as possible.

The two main points I would like to add about my new role are:

1. Please let me know what you want from the development officers role, e.g. new members what would you have found useful when you joined?

2. This Isn't only about racing, we would like to develop coaching skills, race organiser skills, etc. again what would you find useful.

I am the club press secretary for the year ahead. I had a go at it this last season on a fairly casual basis and have managed to establish a few contacts in the local and national press who were happy to give our sport the exposure that it deserves. This year the committee have formalised the position putting the pressure on me to do a more professional job!!!. I believe that my goals are to use the local and national press as well as other medias where appropriate to ensure that the club, it's events, it's members, sponsors and all facets of our sport are promoted in a positive manner at every opportunity.

You all know how to contact me via the net with info etc and I would be happy to provide my phone number by private message to anyone who requires it . Judging by the way some of our guys and girls were riding towards the end of last season I will have no shortage of material to report on next year.

Cheers

Known to some around here as The Large Hairy Nuisance, I wrote the website and installed The Bunch, and maintain/adminster both of them, hosting both in my webspace.

The website doesn't have much to fear from comparison with any others listed in the SCU Clubs page; non-commercial database-driven websites aren't all that ground-breaking now, but it was quite another story in November 2002, while The Bunch, too, seems to have set new standards every day since its beginnings in July 2003.

After checking with El Presidente, I'm glad to be able to say that these two elements of the Club have had quite a beneficial effect - we gained 7 members as a result of our internet activity, while overseas readers of The Bunch that we know of are located in New Zealand, Australia, North America, Russia, Canada, and South Africa.

A nice Christmas prezzie for me would be for everyone to adopt a johnstone-wheelers e-mail address; so far, 12 have done so, but it would be great if everyone chose to be

any_name_you_like@ johnstone-wheelers.co.uk

I'd love to see more members sending me a picture of themselves I could turn into a thumbnail to illustrate their messages.
