  1. Intending on doing this a bit longer than 50 miles.
  2. Mark I was more talking of coming through from behind as last rider. Because of group being large with riders having varried fitness splits tend to happen in the fast lane and with some riders sitting in you don't actually know when it's your turn to come through without having to check your shoulder frequantly. Ideally you would shout out 'last' for the last rider in the slow lane when you are the last rider coming through to fast lane. But with not knowing who will be getting back onto the chain from riders that are sitting in you can't really do that. APR good idea...but think it might be a bit difficult at the start to split into groups relative to fitness. 6.30 comes and people want to set off... Generally as some have already said, up to the Clune seems to be ok, so I think Billy's suggestion might work best. One group to Clune and then after that split into two groups with the faster one going first.
  3. Agree. On the other hand it's hard when it's a big group with riders that have different fitness levels to keep a consistent chain moving. You end up looking over your shoulder quite a bit to make sure you don't step into someone's line. Not ideal as you also need to keep an eye on your front wheel, potholes, cars etc.
  4. Another one of those... Non-stop 40-50 mile round the lanes somewhere. Departing from Houston roundabout at 10.00am. Post if you would like to join - open to suggestions for route.

    ARRAN :)

That was a good Arran run with a strong team at the start...but Arran being Arran it seems to always manage to throw challenges at you! We were setting a good pace until I got a pinch puncture going over a pothole at 25 miles to go...we decided at the start there will be no waiting and so I mended the puncture and set off in TT mode keeping calm not to blow early. 3 miles later I see Jan on the side of the road with a puncture, gave it a quick thought and decided I would keep going as agreed at the start. Just before Lochranza climb there were some road works and I was stopped by the workers for 2 or 3 mins ruining the momentum I had going . They gave me the go ahead and then back to TT mode, half way up the climb looked back and saw Jan catching up...I thought perfect we would rejoin for the last 10m as I needed a good push to catch the 11.05 ferry! At that point it was around 10.30 already so once we rejoined we set off at a good pace sharing the workload and just manged to catch the ferry...don't think would have made it alone. Thanks Jan for the nice steady wheel at the end and Paul and Ian for the team work at the start . That's SA done
