  1. All in good humour I hope. I appreciate all the "steers". I'd like to think the 30 milers is the right bunch for me. I've enjoyed the runs tremendously : the company is great and the pace is just right. I have to work 8 hours after every single session, so I don't need a "doing". tim
  2. Sorry Greig. Also : I've had "dae yer ane thing" translated into English. My bad. Will try to drill some bunch discipline into the old legs, as it's pretty scary having the Sergeant-Major one one's case. Maybe I should be kicked upstairs into the Intermediates, if that group exists. By the way, I sometimes ride out on Thursdays...any way of contacting like minds with sufficiently flexible working hours? Also, I have an idea for a route, "Tour of the Bronze Age Hill Forts" ... which does not involve any more or any more severe climbing than appears to be normal on the 30-miler runs.
  3. Not out...hand injury 3 weeks ago, vacation cancelled, can't even pump tyres up. But will be out again ASAP Tim
  4. Sorry but I'm going to skip tomorrow because my wife had an accident today requiring treatment at A&E, so I will be "nursing sister" for a day or so. I've told her she timed it brilliantly to coincide with the rain. Will be out next week. Tim
  5. I plan to be out if I'm not dead, unconscious, or in jail. The road surfaces are a bit heavy but this is a fine ride. Don't remember seeing any cafes on this route but then my glasses are usually too misted up to see them. Tim
  6. After all the cold dry weather I think all of us had a sharp reminder of the chilling effect of evaporative cooling! Tim
  7. I'm planning to join. By the way the B786 is ripped up for resurfacing between Carruth House (a little north of the Torr Rd. junction) and at least up to Glenmill (the junction for Quarriers). This may have been on the ride you posted for 24-Mar. When they get it done, I'm planning to ride up and down it 20 times a day. Anything for a smooth ride. Tim Miller
  8. I'd like to join you if I may. I'm still a self-invited guest, but I would say the route suggested by Greig for the 24th is a fine one (with Bridge of Weir at its mathematical centre). It might be a little frosty early in the morning...does that mean 09:30 would be better than 09:00? Tim
  9. Planning to join you again after very enjoyable spin last Sunday.
