I've not got my muddies sorted so I guess I'm kind of a pariah now. I could get a pair in Glasgow tomorrow, tho. Hmmm, what to do? I've got a rear mudguard on the hybrid. Would that be acceptable? Hi Fawlty, I was in the same position as you a few months ago, I went for a specialized allez, which I love, and I have to say that the club itself really is the bees knees to get you going. You want to get in touch with the 30milers if you're just starting out, although it's a rough time of year for it.... all the best. Ewan.

John, That'd be great and really helpful to a first-timer. 8.15 it is. I'll be in a red top, black bike, looking confused and probably swearing at my new cleats. Ideally I'll be upright. Ewan.

Hopefully this'll be my first appearance. Picking up a new bike today(fri), so barring any teething problems, I'm planning to be join you on Sunday. I've done about a handful of 30mile runs on my own on the old Crosstrail in the past couple of weeks and so far no disasters. Optimism is all! Ewan.
