  1. Should be up for this. Will likely meet at Red Smiddy if going out through Bishopton. Let me know intended route. Cheers.
  2. Billy, won't make this now...called in to work. Apologies.
  3. I'll be along. Can you bring the 3/4 bibs if you're driving?
  4. Billy - are the 3/4's padded?
  5. What size are the 3/4's - I'll take them if they're Med?
  6. Was up for it...but unfortunately entries are now closed!!!!????
  7. Campbell, Are you up for the Three Glens at the end of the month (29th Sept?)
  8. 68 Entries, 13 starters on a 'beautiful' Sept morning! 'Sandblasted' for the first 50km in galeforce headwinds and rain to the first control at Tweedsmuir. Field had dropped to 11 by the time we reached the shelter of the viilage hall. A bacon roll and coffee never tasted so good. There was also enough food to feed the 68 'starters' (missed opportunity Chung.) Next 35km took us over few climbs - Talla Reservoir, Megget Reservoir, St. Mary's Loch and Berrybush to second control at Tushielaw. Tough climbs, but descents great and would be better on a dry windless day! Last main climb of the day over Witchie Knowe completed on the way to Peebles. Roads great and scenery stunning through the clouds and mist (with a little imagination.) Sun came out for the return leg to Rosewell for cake, soup, meat pie and more cake. Had nothing left after 200km and about 8.5 hrs in the saddle. Looking forward to the next Audax on 29th Sept...should be easier as it's a mere 160km... http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-412/
  9. Billy, It's a close call on shaving legs or growing a beard...
  10. Chung, Ronnie has been at the last three events that I've taken part in. Even managed to finish just ahead of him at the Erit Lass...but he did have a minor detour at the end...even the pros get it wrong! But I'm claiming a moral victory anyway!
  11. Sorry Chung...no pictures...but big Ronnie says it's time you did a few more Audax runs!!
  12. 31 folk started out at 08:00 from Musselburgh in warm morning sunshine. Excellent 27km coastal route to North Berwick served as a warm-up with stunning views. Next 70k took us south west to Innerleithen (after a minor wrong turning!) for a welcome al fresco lunch break at the Whistle Stop cafe. 50k East then brought us to Duns for a second cafe stop...very civilised this Audax riding! Final leg took us West back to Musselburgh. This was by far the hardest leg. With 150k already in your legs the climbing also started in earnest. However, stunning scenery, essentially good roads and company more than made up for grinding out the climbs. The Scotch pie at the end was a welcome reward! In the saddle for the 200k with 3000m of climbing for 07:58. Couple of cafe stops took total time to over 9 hrs. May also have had a bit left over at the end...possibly aiming at a 300k next year. Great day on the bike, obviously made better by the weather. Thoroughly recommend this route and Audaxes in general for anyone looking to get the miles in their legs or to try something different in another part of the country. Looking forward to the next 200km Audax installment this Sun...4th in 5 weeks.
  13. Have entered the Dave Harris Memorial 200km Audax... http://www.aukweb.ne...s/detail/13-69/ Route not confirmed, but likely to be.... http://www.mapmyride...k-route-1930063 Any other interested parties? Campbell, Len - you know you want to...!!??
  14. Entered The Erit Lass Audax http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-22/ Any company welcome...
  15. Ardrossan gets my vote.
  16. Anyone up for this Audax arranged by Royal Albert CC... http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-321/ Mr McGinty has also been spotted moonlighting on the Royal Albert website!!
  17. Heading down on Mon to acclimatise! Send me your mobile number and I'll give you a shout on Sun if you're there.
  18. Did this last year - well worth the trip for the scenery and cakes/sandwiches at the end. You'll need them - there were a couple of steep climbs if my memory serves me well. But well worth the trip.
  19. Conti 4 Seasons are on! Entered the 200km. All I need now is someone with map reading skills to tow me round! Anyone else up for this?
  20. Apologies to Al - ignore this if you want...but since I make it a possible three for Campbelltown, can I suggest an alternative...Aberfoyle, Duke's Pass and Loch Katrine Loop?
