  1. Darryl,

Would have been riding the Audax this weekend, but have had a brain storm and entered the Gleniffer Braes mountain bike race!!

It is about 15 or 16 years since I raced at Gleniffer (as a Junior of course :!: ), so thought I'd give it a blast. :-?

Hope the ride goes well and the weather is kind.

    Cheers

  2. Darryl,

As it looks like it's only you and I that are available for tonight's APR, so I am just going to go out for a spin when I get back from work.

Presume you will head out with the Renfrew Bunch. Have a good one.

Hopefully get enough people for an APR next week.

    Cheers

  3. Was a cracking afternoon out and great company.

Arms are a bit red with sunburn though!

Just been out over the Campsies on my mountain bike today. Good ride as well, especially as the forecast rain never appeared! My off-road skills are not what they used to be, as I had to carry a couple of downhills!! :-? (in fact, I'm not sure they were ever that good)

  4. I'm also not racing, as I hurt my knee last weekend. After most of last year off the bike with knee problems, I don't want to risk it.

Didn't think to offer to marshall, so by the time Graeme Herd asked if I was available my better half had organised things.

Looks like Alan and Frank will be the only JWCC in race B, with Jim in race A. Good luck guys.

  5. In a moment of madness and totally against my better judgement I have put my name into the lottery for the super 6 at Greenacres!

Anyone know the course? Would like to try and recce it this Saturday, as I'm either racing (TT) or away until the race.

It's only 40miles, how difficult can it be? :-?

  6. About 6 weeks ago my cousin set the world record for cycling round the world in the fastest ever time, so I thought I would post a bit of a plug for his TV documentary being shown next week and the week after.

    BBC 2, 7pm on Monday 7th, Tuesday 8th and then Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th.

I was at the BBC last night for the "premiere" of the first two parts and it is really good.

Would love to claim that I taught him everything he knows about a bike.......but that would just be a lie!!

Link to his web site for those that are interested: http://www.pedallingaround.com/start/

  7. Eh.... I did the same as David and forgot the clocks went forward. Luckily I didn't even get out the house before I realised.

Anyway, after missing the club run and with the rain etc, I did a turbo session with the new DVD someone gave me a few weeks ago. Including warm up and cool down, it was 2.5hours and in that time I drank 5 x 1.5litre bottles!! Possibly one of the most intense sessions I've done on a bike for years!!

    Should be out next week.

  8. Anyone around Friday morning for a 3-4hour spin? I'm probably going to leave Beith at 8 - 8.30 and head Renfrewshire direction, but no real plans. Just making the most of a day off work. Oh yeah, and a good few hills if possible!!

    Cheers

  9. The last few miles along the west ferry was a bit of a hard slog for Howie and myself, trying to get off the dual carriageway as soon as poss. Very busy, lots of spray etc, but the drive back home from Erskine does make me feel like a bit of a fraud after hearing tales of the Whin and Phil's Folly!

Cheers for the tea at Dunoon Paul.

Good day out, despite a bit of rain/snow/sleat/hail.

  10. Alan,

I'm keen for the Dunoon run, as I need to get in some decent miles before doing Lands end to John O'Groats in May. If the weather is good I'll see you there. But without trying to sound too negative, the forecast is shocking, so might choose to do something a bit more local. (yes, I might be a bit of a fair weather cyclist! )

If i'm not there at 8, then have a good day.
