  1. Aye right. Jim - you are the scratch group. Especially if you're wearing shorts.... The course is on this multimap posting: http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=235000&Y=652500&width=700&height=400&gride=236699.382586435&gridn=651500.652655375&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=freegaz&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=0&scale=50000&down.x=290&down.y=7 Start / finish line is about half mile out of Barmill on the Beith road (B706). Head towards Beith, turn left at the foot of the brae along 'Sharon Street', turn left again on the B707 to the top of the brae, and then left again along the C-class road after 2.5 miles to bring you back towards Barrmill. Turn left again to bring you onto the finishing straight. As for distance: who knows? Let's see who turns up and then work out how many laps we want to do. The calendar says 6:15 for this event. How about meeting then for a 6:30 start (just in case John is late again... )
  2. Hi all am trying to organise things to be there, but it depends on work and traffic (and looking after children). Might get there for the second lap. Is that OK?
  3. Thanks to all for their feedback on Sunday’s event. It’s now JWCC’s turn to say thank you to: • Dot Smith for acting as our official starter • Sharon Flindall, Lynn Brady, Mary Wark, Irene and Lorne Bell for the tremendous catering • Kenny MacDonald, Dave McKellar Boab Wark and Kenny Steele for driving the backup vehicles • Iain Laing for managing the website and online registrations • Chung Wong for producing the route maps and other materials • Davie Raymond, John Anderson, Joyce McKellar, Ian Laing and Ian Manson for doing the signing on • Ian Dooley and Steve Joughin for bringing their shops to Erskine • Aileen, Les, Kevin and one more (sorry, can’t remember your name) from the St Andrew’s Ambulance Corps for the 1st aid backup • John and the team at Erskine Sports Centre for letting us take over for the day Most of all, thanks to the 153 cyclists who turned up and rode, together raising a net total of £1188 to be divided equally between the two charities, Accord Hospice and the Braveheart Cycling Fund. Two more things. The 2007 JWCC Erskine Century Ride is on Sunday 5th August. And of course, next year’s Don Smith: Sunday 2nd March 2008. Put the date in your diary now!

    Curry Night

Sorry boys, bad timing once again. Thought this was a definite, but find I am double booked and due to be eating chinese food in Glasgow that night. have one for me
  15. that would be "go to bed then"
  16. so what time did I go to be then?
  17. Weather's looking up, saturday now sunny intervals, 15mph westerly best not talk about sunday although a 17mph southerly will blow us back up to johnstone
  18. Just spoken with the Jdub's answer to nick nairn, and the menu is under control, as long as you're not a veggie that is. Simon is exec chef, I'll go sous chef, and the rest of you are kitchen lackies. Expect italian scoff till it's coming out of your ears. As far as getting there, happy to take the direct route. 8:00 am departure sounds fine, especially as we might need to push SS up the Dalry hill if he's fully laden. Howie - are you still up for the day trip? if so, we'll pick you up on the track at Lochwinnoch. You can plan your return journey at http://www.calmac.co.uk/summer-arran-timetable2.html Did you see that URL, by the way? Summer timetable. Remember the factor 30!
  19. dougie why don't you just bring the mountain bike and ride in a straight line to lochranza? unless that means you'd miss the cake shops. 5 birthdays in my house this month - you ready for the jdub cake eating champs?
  20. choices choices going overland via gourock, tighnabruaich etc is 75 miles to Lochranza. johstone to lochranza via ardrossan is 49 miles. add a lap of the island at what, 56 miles, and that gives a total of 105 (albeit some unladen) even half an island, cutting over the string, would total 85. so by that logic, the long road is a short cut going that way we'll have plenty of time to get the tea on c'mon boys, get the panniers on. we can do a lap or a half on sunday, and ride back via ardrossan on the sunday
  21. I'll be there - w/e of the 7th. only have one pannier, so can't carry as much wine as simon. Got the chef's hat ready though! I'm up for the overland rout, and here's a thought - why not buy the wine at the forward supply depot aka the coop in Tarbert? they've got a good selection, and it'll be easier to zip up loch strivenhead...
  22. well done the criminal justice system! sorry to say I can't make it out this Fri (its the missus's birthday) so just make this part one of the celebrations. Finish the job properly in Arran
  23. do we get to play ping pong?
  24. is that what you jaguar master technicians do then? I'd be worried if I were Davie Mck. Choice of weekend a bit contentious. I've got clearance for the 6th and 7th, and it gives Darly an extra week to recover from his procedure . any other awkward sods?
