  1. I would suggest :- Stevie Blom , Kelly van der Toorn , Aileen McGlynn. Scott Donaldson all seriously consider getting involved in such a programme if it fits in with there timescales. Over to you guys
  2. Last to be tested on Tuesday Andy C had just got into turbo mode when he blew the power to Miller streeet Fortunately our super dooper battery back up lights worked a treat, or we would have been left in the dark ( nothing new there then ) A dissapointed Andy had to be removed from the rig with no test completed. As we had no power we couldnt print out results , hence Mark will post them to me asap kenny MacD
  3. I have a couple of spaces for testing on Tuesday night, let me know if interested. This is last of the first round of tests. Kenny MacDonald ps plan to have a coaching night soon to give a feedback and what to do now session.
  4. Looking for a couple of Polo players to replace Kat & Paul. Playing every second Sat. morning , all gear supplied . A great game and now a safe game due to new rules & regs. Also a very hard work out is ensured Come & try it , you will enjoy it
  5. Mark askes everyone health questions before they do the test and wont let anyone take risks. Kenny MacD
  6. Darryl definetly not a good idea to do anything strenous between now and test, it was evident from last nights results that some people hadnt recovered fully from weekends exertions. This test is a maximal test and you are put under an ever increasing load till you cant maintain a steady pace. The world certainly spun for the majority of riders last night
  7. Many people have been asking about the confined Calendar for this year , just a reminder that it can be viewed on the website. It will be printed out and distributed at next comm. meeting . Meanwhile feel free to check it and notify Campbell crombie of any ommisions or errors .
  8. Well done to all who braved the torture machine last night. Everyone gave a good account of themselves ,despite various impediments to some riders preparations. A long night meant Mark left clubrooms just before 11:00pm, he will bring print outs on Friday night. Next session this Friday with a final test on Tuesday to complete the round one of testing. I will discuss a second series of tests with Mark next Tuesday. Possibility of arranging a saturday ( when no races are on ) to facilitate a whole day rather than late nights. Once again well done to you all, and yes I will be undertaking the test at some point soon. I believe in the old saying " dont ask anyone to do something you wont do yourself"
  9. I unlike Gordon will mourn the passing of Marco Pantani. He was an extremely talented climber who brought excitement to the spectators of our sport. He was a charismatic showman , who could destroy a field in a matter of minutes on the steepest mountains. Yes he was caught up in the seedy side of our sport ( as many of our pro champions have been lately) and paid for his wrong doing. Who can state categorically, who is and who isnt using performance enhancing stimulants nowadays. Whilst I do not advocate drug taking in any way ,I mourn him as a troubled soul. Anyone who has read Graeme Obree's book will understand some of the pressures people with mental health problems endure. Multiply this by living in the constant glare of the press and public and you can only guess at the poor mans anguish. Anyone who is driven to take their own life due to being hounded by the press and rumourmongers , should be given some respect for the good things they achieved whilst alive. Remember :- "there but by the grace of god go I"
  10. Hi just a note to let you know that our wee bunch is growing each day, check out the memberlist to see some of our new members, who hail from all corners of the globe. Good to see our wheels & deals growing ,its so poular that even the guys at Thomson's cycles have been on checking out the bargains Iain Dooley has released the first of his bargains for the Dooleys sale at Don Smith :- Michelin tyres for £4 and frames from £75 more bargains announced next week
  11. Remember its a pay up front session at testing. Plus no club fees no test Coulkd be an expensive night for some Test £15 Fees £20 Kenny MacD you know who you are
  12. Sean cant do early times as he has to help Suzanne shut shop , so he must have a late slot.
  13. You need your own bike , bring best bike as it will give consistent result in each test. It is a ramp test and should last a maximum 25 minutes ( much less for some folk) Mark will be travelling through from Dumferline ( leaving at 5:30pm) So I expect first test to start no later than 7:00pm. This means clubrooms opened at 6:15pm for warm up . I havent set a rota as I dont know when people will arrive , so can people post for preffered time slot. But we must have riders warming up ready to go immediately so you cant all turn up at 8:30 pm and expect to get done in time. Reserves can turn up and take pot luck if they wish. warm up can be done on rollers/ turbos. Testing takes place in kitchen in private ( Mark & myself) only people present) It is up to yourself if you wish to divulge your results.. please try and work out a suitable running order with your group for each night. Please do this via private messaging and send rota to me asap kenny MacDonald
  14. I need info from riders being tested:- Age , weight in Kilos , and sex ( now theres a chance for some replies ) this is to allow Mark to enter data into database to save time on the night. If sensitive you can post a private message ( then I will post it for everyone to see only kidding) ps Dougie I will ask Martin K about fee's but after a few bottles of wines he gets forgetfull pps Dougie - did you get the photo I sent?
  15. Thanks Declan your place is booked , now for the other defaulters
  16. This event takes place this Friday at Normandy Hotel , tickets £12 includes 3 course meal. Dave McKellar is only JWCC representative so far , any other takers? Cycling is represented by young Robert Robertson in the competition. If interested in going let me know asap. Kenny MacD
  17. Tuesday 17th. :- Declan Dougie Ian M Jim B Dave Mck MartinM Friday20th. :- Darryl Paul Mcd Stu Stevie B Sean Scott D Reserves Paul Mcsk. , Alan Y , Andy Mac , Campbell If reserves turn up I think we can squeeze you in , alternatively I can book a 3rd. night and open up to a few more riders Although I will be checking database later today & paid members will take preference over non affiliated members. You know who you are
  18. I have booked Tuesday 17th. Feb and Friday 20th. Feb as testing nights. Mark can do 6 riders per evening. Please post preference , but remember first come first served so book quickly. I ncan add on extra nights if needs be. Cash up front on the night ( no refund if you dont trap ) Mark is coming through from East .
  19. Each test costs £15 and you get a personal print out with all the data etc. Will contact Mark Young to get a first test arranged. If date doesnt suit everyone I will get a 2nd. option Kenny MacD
  20. How many people would be interested in getting a maximal power test done on a Computrainer. Plan is to test each rider in Feb. then six weeks later then another six weeks later. testing to be carried out at clubrooms by Mark Young or similar standard of credible coach. I highly recommend this style of testing as it will give a true picture of your level of fitness/potential and let you see if training is working ( increased performance after 6/12 weeks) It was such a test which identified Seans true potential ( he had the engine of a Ferrrari but was driving it like a Skoda ) The test gave him the belief to push his body to its limits and resulted in huge improvements in his performances. It wont make you go faster but will show what type of engine/potential you have. Beware it could give indication of worn big ends and too much engine slap Seriously though well worth a try if you want to progress in the sport.

    Singling-Up

The outside rider must always go forward with inside rider slotting in behind , when car has passed etc riders resume original position in the group.
