Our 5 man team equited themselves outstandingly in this multi national Competition in Paris. Pat Boyle,James MacDonald ,Russell& Alistair Macgilvaray, Fergus Mcmeeken aided & abetted on the touchline by yours truly represented Scotland . Dublin had 2 teams ,the French had 4 regional teams ( A&B squads , world champions Canada and Scotland/JWCC making up the 10 team format.Being last years wooden spoonists we were unseeded and had a tough section with Varengville the current French champions and host team ESGL "A" squad in our section. First game was against ESGL and we ground out a fine victory in our opener , this was followed by a tougher victory against VC San Vic Le Havre . We fought back from an early two goal deficit to take the lead with 2 minutes remaining, San Vic scored a spectacular equaliser with a minute remaining followed by James scoring a 30 yard screamer with 10 seconds on the clock to complete his hat trick. The 3rd. game found our team legweary in the very hot conditions and Varengville handed us our first defeat of the tournament, and outlining the reason they were current French champions.

Sunday morning saw us comfortably dispatch Dublin B and set up a play off with Canada for 3rd. place. Team Canada the current world champions were a daunting image with 3 out of 4 riders sitting at over six foot tall the tallest Pete at a staggering 6ft. 9in. After losing a couple of quick goals the team settled down and fought back into the game losing eventually by 5 -2. The squad were great ambassadors for Scotland and earned the respect of all teams present.

Well done lads Oh ya dancer !Oh ya dancer !
