Tony
I would like to do a bit of mountain biking on Sunday morning - thinking of setting off early doors (maybe 0730) and cycling over to Cathkin Braes to potter round the XC course for a couple of hours (assuming I can find it) then cycle back. Anybody up for that? (NB I've done very little mountain biking before and my bike is of the non-bouncy variety so don't expect me to be fast). Alternatively does anyone know this Kilpatrick Hills/Mugdock route: http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/routes/?bp ... assic-Ride I'm open to alternative suggestions. Tony
Set off early as planned & headed over to Cathkin Braes, for a change of scene. Before going I had watched a wee video of the recent SXC race which can be seen here: http://walkerscycling.blogspot.com/ I had thought the course would be easily-identifiable due to wear & tear but it wasn't...the only bit I definitely recognised from the video was the steep zigzag descent from the radio mast. (It's a bit more mental than it looks in the video. I walked it rather than end up cartwheeling down the hill...) In summary I would say there are some decent trails at CB but on the whole I'm not sure it's any better than Gleniffer, which is a lot closer.
