Scottish Cycling are delighted to announce a special event to welcome in 2009 with the The Renewables New Year Campus Super Cross. Oh ya dancer !Oh ya dancer !

This cyclo-cross event will take place on Sunday 4th January 2009 at the University of Stirling, one of the UK's most picturesque University Campuses in the heart of central Scotland. Three events are planned, U12s, U16s and an event for seniors/women/vets/juniors. With the prize fund currently standing at £600, the senior race will also be Scotland's first 'Category A' cross event.

Race Director Tom Forbes describes the University as a fantastic venue for sport describing the course as testing but mainly rideable, 'Like many courses at the moment involving grassland there is heavy water still being held in the earth which can lead to a mud fest and Stirling is no different. The University has been really keen to ensure the event is successful and the Estates people have gone to great lengths to allow us to use the best parts of the campus to allow maximum spectator coverage. The main circuit is a little over 2kms with jumps, stairs and plenty of adverse camber. Having a road closure for the start/finish area is also an added plus. You will be able to see most of the events without walking too far. Add in some hospitality and weather permitting it will be a great social occasion and at the same time advertise cycle sport'. He declined to comment on the rumour of the senior and youths events running through a hospitality tent, 'Turn up on the day and findout!'. Hello, beer !!
