Members Kenny MacDonald
Following last nights discussion on re introduction of Tourist trial awards ( to be renamed ) here is a list of past standards :- Standard Award requirements for Seniors Gold Award 100 miles in under 6 hours 10 miles in under 25 minutes Hillclimb in under 1min 50 secs Silver Award 100 miles in under 8 hours 10 miles in under 26 minutes Hillclimb in under 2 minutes Bronze Award 100 miles in under 10 hours 10 miles in under 27 minutes Hillclimb in under 3 minutes Looking for feedback on a new format /distances /times Juniors did 75 miles and Juveniles 50 miles with 10 and hillclimb times ammended in proportion. Possible changes:- ie replacing 10 times with Georgetown standard times. Place to place standard times? Circuit standard times? in past we ran 2 100 mile qualifiers so people could achieve standard and 2 hill climbs as well ( champ. plus one other) The League 10s gave 7 qualifier events for 10 time. Need feedback prior to next months comm. meeting.
Members Kenny MacDonald
Comments from our CTC /Wine carrier/Technical guru:- the old ctc standard ride was 100 miles in under 8 and that seems reasonable for beginners- maybe an under 10 hours for real beginners? 100 in 6 is reasonable including breaks; so what a bout a 'tourist' under 6 and a racer under 5? what about a modern 200km; ie club audax- therefore hilly with challenge awards for beginners under 10 hours / 9 hours etc for old timers under 9 and 8 and 7 ; 8 20 was the best I did Robert Inverclyde Velo did about 8 at the time of his 420 miles in 24 hrs A series of tourist / sportive awards seems appropriate as that is the way things are heasding; how about Applecross event long course in under 6 / 5'30" etc
Hertz Van Rental
Hi Kenny, Don't recall the senior bronze being 100 miles - I thought it was 75 miles in 8 hours? I only ever managed the 100 in under 6 hours once, and that was in the company of Cormac McGlone and John Cruickshanks who were both training for the 12hr that year. maybe 1986 or 1987? Are the long events still planned as early-ish season events, or mid summer? I always thought that only 3 events was a bit low and it would have been good to maybe include a pursuit time or something similar for a bit of variety
Members Kenny MacDonald
Gordon in original format we had 100 at 3 times for gold, silver etc. Juniors did 75 miles Juveniles depending on age cat. 25 or 50 miles. With the change away from trad. racing to etapes etc we are trying to cater for the bulk of club riders , and at same time enhancing club confined events by boosting number of riders. Still in early planning stages but envisage 2 century options along with 2 hillclimbs plus a variety of TT options.
