Fundraising Ride Saturday 28th October

With Special Guests

Sean Kelly, Allan Peiper, Graeme Obree & Chris Hoy

We are receiving many entries for our fundraising rides taking place on Saturday 28th October from St Josephs Academy, Kilmarnock.

With distances of 23 and 43miles there is a distance that will suit cyclists of all abilities. The aim of the day is to give everyone the chance to have a fun day cycling with some of cycling’s best known personalities whilst raising money for the fund.

Enter now online at www.braveheartfund.com

Although we want to encourage as many people as possible to raise money through sponsorship it is not a requirement to take part.

For those raising money for the fund we have three Braveheart Cycling Jackets signed by Chris Hoy, Sean Kelly and Allan Peiper to giveaway to the three people who raise the most amount of money.

Come along and have a great day out!

CYCLE WITH THE STARS

Some of the stars of world cycling will be pedaling along the roads of Ayrshire on Saturday, 28 October, as part of a mass participation fundraising ride. Sean Kelly, the Irishman who was world number one for much of the 1980s, and Scotland’s Olympic champion Chris Hoy will lead the rides, over distances of 23 or 43 miles. And they will be joined by another Scottish hero, Graeme Obree – the subject of a recently premiered feature film – as well as Allan Peiper, Ross Edgar, James McCallum & Kate Cullen.

Anyone can register to join in these rides, where the emphasis is on participation and fun rather than fitness and speed. Kelly, Hoy and Obree will not be at the front, leading the charge, but have instead promised to move around the groups of cyclists, sharing their experiences and passing on tips to all participants.

No previous experience of riding in a group is required – only enthusiasm and enough fitness to ride a bike over 23 miles. And there are no time limits, either. Men and women and boys and girls of all ages and levels of experience are therefore welcome to take part in an unforgettable day out in the company of some of the biggest names in world cycling.

The first Braveheart Fundraising Ride was held last year, and it was a great success. Some 400 riders took part, including Kelly, Hoy and Obree, with all participants hailing a memorable day out, on a route selected to take in some of the best roads and quiet lanes of Ayrshire. With registration now open, this year’s ride is scheduled to beat last year’s figure – and 500 is the target.
